In those directions, I tell students the groups they will be in and also provide a link to their group's Google Slide all on the Canvas assignment with a link to access the slide. Then I place students in breakout rooms on Zoom. They work as a group in their breakout room on the one slide given to their group. I can see their work on their slides because it is in real time. If they need help, they simply call me to their breakout room. If I see no activity on their slide, I pop into their breakout room.

They are to think of what and who inspired them or motivates them to be their PERSONAL BEST. With that in mind, they will create a cool mask for their cougar.

They open Roll Call, type their name, period, and I ask a question to get them writing and a brain teaser or riddle for fun. I reveal the answer the next day. This activity is great in creating routine and keeping record of who is here. The kids all do them because they are simple and engaging. I will be adding a Level Up tutorial question as the year progresses for ELA. You can add any warm up question pertaining to your subject too.
