Active Learning Experience

My active learning experience is about when I learned to perform CPR in high school. I took Emergency Services as my focus area in school to learn how to care for others. In the class, we learned how to perform first aid for smaller injuries by observing paramedics. The paramedics also demonstrated the proper way to perform CPR. Once the class had practiced the skill to the song Staying Alive (I know it's silly but it works) we were able to get our certification after proving we could the process correctly on a dummy.

Constructive Learning Experience

My constructive learning experience is about when I first went to Memphis. I was so excited to be on my own and be responsible for myself. The year did not go how I wished it did now that I look back on it. I took the last couple of years off to find out what I wanted to do with my life and to see what was out in the world. Now that I am back in school I see what I took for granted in my first year. I look back and know that I need to create a good schedule to provide time for school and my personal life or else I will be worn out just focusing solely on school.

Intentional Learning Experience

My intentional learning experience is about right now. I have a goal to become an elementary school teacher. I have put in the work and even worked with my advisor so I could speed up the process. I know I can work toward accomplishing my goal by asking for help when I need it and not losing focus. this was a hard road to get to but I know this is what I want to achieve.

Authentic Learning Experience

My authentic learning experience was when I was learning to drive. this story is not pretty but I eventually figured it out. When i turned 15 my mom immediately took me to get my learner's permit and let's just say it took me 4 tries to get mine. I finally managed to pass the test and could learn how to drive. I had a hard time learning the different ways the car worked at first which caused me to run up on a curb. My mom and I spent a lot of time just practicing in the church parking lot to get me used to the feel of a vehicle. I finally had confidence after my mom convinced me to try driving on an actual street and I did a lot better knowing I was familiar with the vehicle and how it moves. I did have a few other incidents that were embarrassing but I finally got the hang of it after weeks and weeks of practice on back roads.

Cooperative Learning Experience

My cooperative learning experience was when I was playing softball. I played softball growing up and at first, I believed I was responsible for the team because I was the pitcher. when I was around 14 I fractured my wrist and was so devastated when I could not play ball. My coach sat me down and explained that it's not just one person's job to win the game but for each player to work together as a team to win.
