It requires the students to think deeper into the topic they are learning by doing group projects, and discussions.
Communication: PBL requires so much communication. There is communication from the teacher to students, and students to each other.
Collaboration: By doing projects, and problems, students are continually collaborating ideas, thoughts, and discussions.
Creativity: PBL requires students to be creative in all aspects, considering they are basically in charge of their whole project/problem!

PBL (Project Based Learning) is student-centered, in which the students solve open ended questions/problems via other students. They will do research, projects, interviews, etc. (PBL takes longer than homework and tests, in which it may take weeks or months to finish one project.)

PBL is a technique that is easily abused, if not used properly. It is growing in popularity, and many teachers want to implement it into their classrooms. If PBL is not properly planned by the teacher, it will set the students up for failure, leading to a disappointed teacher and many confused students.

Incorporating PBL Into My Classroom

I really want to incorporate PBL into my future classroom. I think students benefit much more from doing projects, and presentations rather than memorizing information then forgetting it a couple of days later. They are constantly and continually learning while doing PBL. Students can talk more, and get into deeper conversations while in smaller groups, rather than a large class setting. If I do choose to do PBL, I would use it often, but I would still use traditional teaching, because it is still beneficial to the students and teacher.
