The Lorax is set in a future where a man named the Onceler has cut down acres of trees to make a product called a thneed. As the trees are cut down animals are forced from their homes. In the present day a town known as Thneedville which is made entirely out of man made resources is a somewhat oasis from the wastelands of deforestation. the air is very thin in Thneedville due to there not being any real trees so a man named O'Hare sells bottled air which makes him a huge profit.
