#1, Bare-Minimum Bus Stop

While walking through my block, I noticed this bus stop that is currently closed due to the route being blocked by construction. But when it was open, it still looked the same due to there being no shelter to protect from the elements and no seats that are visible to rest on. Sometimes the bus will drive past this stop because the illumination from the street lights won't reach in that area. Some improvements that can be made are to add some shelter and benches to make the bus stop stand out more for the bus stop to notice.

#2, Uneven Sidewalk

While walking through my neighborhood, my footing felt very uneven, and almost fell, until I looked down and saw that the sidewalk I was walking on was very uneven and broken. I immediately thought of the dangerous outcomes of walking along this path especially if you are an elderly person. The community would benefit from this if they re do the sidewalks to make it more safe to walk across.

#3, Couch left on the road

Although some may find it comfortable and in good shape, it is very dirty and is missing 2 of its cushions. It seems like the couch has been in that spot for awhile by observing the dirty marks layered all over it. I understand that another person has to throw away their things, but it should not be just left on the side of the road. What can be done is that there should be a donation/thrift store near by that can take old furniture like this. Or if the couch is too damaged they should wait until the day where big items are taken away by the garbage man to come.

#5, Abandoned House

As I reached the end of my observation trip, I saw this old house that looked to be abandoned from seeing the crooked pillars and the missing fences that border the house. Even though it seems empty, squatters can break into the house to live freely or crimes such as drug dealing or murders can be done inside. To improve this, they can knock down the house to build a new one (if the home owner approves). However, this can be unrealistic since whoever owns the home can't really do anything about it.

I walk through this neighborhood for many reasons such as commuting to school, grabbing groceries, or just taking a walk to calm my mind. I have become familiar with my surroundings. However, when tasked with this assignment, I did my usual calming walk and noticed many issues that reside in my neighborhood. After this assignment, I realized that this neighborhood needs some improvements.
