The Black Cat is a story of man who slowly shifts into insanity as he grows a strange connection to a cat. He ends up murdering his wife and hiding the body, however a loud scream from the walls leads the police to find the body and the black cat in the place he hid her. The Tell Tale Heart executes the same idea in a similar fashion. Both stories seem to have some sort of object that makes them click (a black cat, an old man's eye) and the protagonist covering up the evidence of the murder they've committed only to reveal themselves in the end out of grief.

The Black Cat is about an unnamed narrator who owned several animals with his wife, one of them being a black cat named Pluto. The man starts being consumed into alcoholism, physically and verbally abusing his wife and pets. One night, after returning home intoxicated, he believed the cat avoided his presence, leading him to cut the cat's eye out. Later, he is overcome with a perverse impulse, hanging the cat by rope. A while after, a stray cat who looked exactly like Pluto (except for a white spot on its chest) followed the narrator home. Soon after, it is discovered that the black cat had also lost an eye and the white spot on its chest formed an image of the gallows (a wooden device used to hang people). His loathing of the new cat increases as it follows him around, leading him to raise an axe towards the cat, intending to kill it. However, the wife had stopped his hands, making him plunge the axe into his wife's brain. He decided to conceal the body in a space behind the cellar wall. He felt satisfaction after the deed was done and the cat was nowhere to be found. The police came and searched his house. The narrator started bragging about how well the house is built and even knocked on the same wall he hid his wife in. A howl from inside the wall answered his knock. The police opened up the wall, finding the corpse of the narrator's wife and the black cat who the narrator accidentally concealed in the wall. The Black Cat is similar to The Tell-Tale Heart because both the narrators have something they despise in which they want to dispose of, but in both stories, the police find out about their murderous deed.

The Black Cat is a story about a man who has an odd connection with a cat. He had a cat named Pluto, but he killed it. Then after a few days he runs into a similar cats and keeps him. The new cat is a reminder of what he had done to Pluto, therefore the cat drives him crazy. One day the man tried to kill the cat, but he ended up killing his own wife. After a few days, police show up at his house and look all over and see nothing, until they hear a loud noise coming form inside a wall (which is where the man put the body). That's when they discovered the wife's body and the cat, behind the wall. This story is fairly similar to "The Tell Tale Heart". Both stories include something that bothers the narrator, (like an old man's eye or a black cat) that leads him to murder someone. And at the end when police show up (in both stories) there is always a noise that leads to the crime.

The black cat is a story about a man who seemed to be going mentally insane. Him and his wife had many animals. He had a cat named pluto who he stated was very sweet. One day he hurt the cat for no reason while he was very drunk and then days later he felt bad because the cat had loved him so he killed it. Their house had mysteriously caught on fire and the presence of a new black cat started to appear the only thing different about this cat is that it had a white spot on his chest. His wife asked to show him something down in the cellar and the cat tripped him down stairs and he got mad and tried to kill the cat but he accidentally killed his wife. He hid the body and went about his life. Days later the police showed up they didn't find the body until a cry came from inside the wall where he hid his wife he had unexpectedly burried the cat into the wall with the lady.
