Understanding of War, Power, survival, and education

War are often fought when conflict between two things break out. This can connect to the concept of power as it may play some part in war as well as survival and education. Those with power, any kind of power, have an advantage over those that do not. With power, there are many kinds of powers that come in different shapes or sizes, but the chances of survival for those with power are better for those who do not possess the same kind of power. If we look back to when wars were fought, people who were stronger in military had a larger advantage in war. That meant the chances or dominating in the war were higher. Back then in the past, people who were educated had higher chances of rising to power. Being educated meant that you could do a lot of things, per se leading/ commanding an army in a war. All of these concepts can connect to each other in some way, no matter how big or small it is.

What Exactly is he saying and what is its relevance to the unit?
In the song, the singer is alluding to major events, important people, as well as places. He brings up places where major events like wars or battles, occurred. For example, "Belgians in the Congo"- This line alluded to when Africa was being partitioned by Europeans and the Belgians got the Congo region. An effect of that is the Rwandan Genocide. This song is relevant to the unit because it the main idea of this song is that the problems that occurred were not because of his generation. They were more like legacies passed into his generation and Billy Joel was trying to say that

Where's the Love- Black Eyed Peas

How is this relevant to what we're studying about war and stuff?
When they say "Where is the love", the singers are asking where is the love in this violent and hateful world. The lyrics addresses problems such as terrorism, violence, racism, anger, and hate. Black Eyed Peas looks at the world around them with all its problems and asks one simple question: where is the love? This question itself reflects a sense that the world ought to be one way, but it is not. If all were as it should be, love would permeate the world. Yet this is not the case. In the line, "Black Eyed Peas do a song about love and y'all hate this" the Black eyed peas address the reason for this song, they talk about how the song is about all of the love and hate in the world, and it also addresses the world's problems as a whole.

Reflection on how animal farm connects to everything above.

Animal farm connects to war because it is a book based off of the political theory of communism. Communism created a lot of war and battles and deaths resulted from this back during world war 2 and one. Animal farm connects to power because in the book, Napoleon was a dictator who wanted to rule the farm with absolute power, so he made sure that he would rule through fear. Education played a part in animal farm when the pigs learned how to read after removing Mr. Jones from power. Animal farm can connect to survival because all the animals wanted to survive on the farm and live peacefully. Brains over brawn, the pigs used their brains for their selfish needs. Rebellion happened in the novel when the animals fought against the humans and drove out Mr. Jones.

Iranian War

Embed the following links into your WAR Padlets and then write down the key points of the Iranian Revolution (who, what, when, where, why and the impact it had globally and within the nation). CrashCourse / Aljazeera The Iran-Iraq War was a war between the armed forces of Iraq and Iran lasting from September 1980 to August 1988. It was commonly called the Persian Gulf War until Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990. The Iraq-Kuwait war, which the United States entered, later was called the Persian Gulf War or the Gulf War. The war began when Iraq invaded Iran on 22 September 1980, after a long history of border disputes and demands for the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime. Iraqi forces did well at the beginning of the war, taking Iranian Khuzestan, but before long they were stopped and forced out of Iran. The war continued for years, and neither side gained much ground in the resulting trench warfare. About a million soldiers died and a similar number of civilians. Both sides used blockade, which other countries opposed. Despite several calls for an end to the fighting by the United Nations Security Council, the two countries fought until 20 August 1988; the last prisoners of war were exchanged in 2003. The war changed politics in the Middle East and world wide.
The Iran-Iraq War is also noted for Iraq's use of chemical weapons and biological weapons against Iranian troops and civilians. The role of the United States and Soviet Union was very important, dating back to the Cold War. In 1953, the US encouraged a coup d'état against Mohammad Mosaddegh, who was the Prime Minister of Iran. Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi returned to power, supporting his military and his government. The United States sold many weapons to the Shah's government. Meanwhile revolutionaries of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party overthrew the king of Iraq and, with the help of the Soviet Union, built up their army. Starting with the United Arab Republic, they sought to unite all the Arabs into one state, including the Arab minority in Iran.
After the war started, (especially between 1983 and 1988) the United States sold weapons to the Iraqis. This move was largely due to America's interest in containing the revolutionary Ayatollah Khomeini. Thus, both the Soviet Union and the United States supplied Iraq with weapons to use against Iran. [1] The United States had sold many weapons to Iran before the war. The Soviet Union sold weapons to Iran during the war.

This song addresses some of the problems in the world, such as poverty, then he goes on to say that we can make the world a better place if we start changing our ways. The world can be changed if the people in it change as well is what it is saying. After he says that it can be changed starting with the man in the mirror which is alluding to yourself. This line is saying that if everybody were to look at themselves and change the things that were wrong, the world would be a better place. On the surface, it talks about the cruelty of the world, but the meaning is a bit deeper as I said above, people need to change themselves in order to change the world.

This documentary is about a Syrian girl who is in seventh grade and she talks about her refugee experience. She experiences a lot of trauma for a girl her age. For example, she was walking home with her two friends one day, and they got shot. This girl wishes to empower her peers. That was most likely why she did this video project, she wanted to tell her own story and talk about her life in the Syrian camp. As she said in the video, all she could think about was how someone can shoot like that. She said “I could hear something. 'Psst.' … My friend fell to the ground. The gunshot went through her head. My other friend, a gunshot went through her back when she fell. I stood there from shock,” she recalls in the film. “All I could think of was, 'How can a shot go through like that?' My friend was saying, 'Walaa, I don't want to die. I'm still young.’ This moment in my entire life, I will never forget it.”
