Botticelli was born around 1445 in Florence, Italy.

He was known as one of the greatest painters of the Florentine Renaissance. His style was early Renaissance, Italian Renaissance and Florentine painting. Botticelli is best known for his mythological allegories. Botticelli was known for using lines, contours and contrasts to define his subjects and spaces. He would paint with an egg tempera, that is a type of paint made by mixing natural pigments with egg yolks and most of his works were painted on wooden panels as well.
