Some tips that I have learned to read poetry are count the lines per stanza. This helped me a lot because often times, only a few lines in a poem are numbered, and the questions that go with the poetry tend to have you refer back to specific lines, and it can be annoying if you don't know which line is which. For me, poetry is an unlimited and very free- flowing way of expressing what you're feeling internally. A lot of poems have deep meanings- many people know that and try to 100% understand that meaning. Yet there are also some poems where the meaning is much deeper than we think- deeper beyond our deep thoughts- and once you finally somewhat understand that meaning, it is no longer important to 100% understand that meaning- just how it affects you.
