Locke and the Glorious Revolution is a film about John Locke, an English philosopher. "He employed natural law to support citizens," says the text, referring to John Locke. He believed that the government owed it to the people to respond to their questions and provide information about what they were doing or working on. During Locke's lifetime, however, another English king, James ll, aspired to be a powerful ruler.

Parliament once again defied the king's wishes. In 1688, when civil conflict loomed, James abandoned the realm. The king's daughter, Mary, and her husband, William, were then invited by Parliament to seize the kingdom. The "Glorious Revolution" was the name given to this event. The Glorious Revolution eventually turned England into constitutional monarchy.

This is a system of government in which the monarch's powers are limited by written laws. William and Mary agreed to a Bill of Rights in exchange for the English throne. This document obligated both William and Mary to follow the laws of Parliament. The Bill of Rights was more than just a list of rights. People, for example, had the right to a fair trial by jury and to be free of severe punishment.
