"Changing" an aspect of life is meaning to be able to experience a difference in life and to be able to understand the difference. One is supposed to be conscious of what is happening and be able to adapt to the change. Experiencing death would only be change for the loved ones of the one who has passed. Death is an end of a person's life and an end for that person to experience any changes in life. In the book, people see death as a change because they believe they are still living on in different human bodies. Knowing how you are going to die can be a sense of calming for people who like to know how their life will play out. The tithes are the type of people who are glad to have that purpose and know that they are dying for what they believe is a good reason. Most would rather be aware of their death than not know if they have a purpose in life. They are open to giving their life for the sense of belonging. One reason for a person to be unwound is to end the lives of the teenagers who are not any help in society and only cause problems. They are seen as the failures of the family and are seen as to be better off as different parts in different bodies who people who are better living in the society. There are seen as better off "saving lives" then having the chance to redeem themselves throughout their life as an adult. This is unethical because one should not be judged on the way one lives their life before their brain as fully developed. Humans do not see the same as God does. Therefore, God wants everyone to be in Heaven with Him no matter how you choose to live your life. God made everyone in his image and likeness; Heaven is for everyone. For the people in this society to think something like this is disturbing. To be unwanted by your own parents who should be the ones to love you the most is a very hard thing to deal with. Parents are always seen as the ones to love every flaw that one may have. One should not have to be worried about whether one is still alive or is in Heaven for not reason, but only because they do not belong. Because every part of a person's body is used when unwound, it does not mean that they are still living. That person's soul is sent to Heaven because the unwound person is not their full self. They are not how God has created them to be. The following quote addresses the part in the novel when Cy went to the jewelry box with the stolen jewelry, which was stolen by the unwound brain he received. I feel for Cy and for the family that had received the stolen jewelry back because two people are "living," but not who they truly are. Cy will never be the same as he was before we got the brain transplant. He will never make the same decisions and choices that he did, but will make the decisions and choices of the man of his new brain. Cy will not live the life that he may have wanted to live because of this major change. This should be another reason that unwinding is unethical. One should not be killed only to be "alive" in another person's body because the unwound and the person recieving the transplant both will not be what God made them to be. "To unwind the unwanted" means to take the life of person who does not belong in the society and is to be used for body parts of different people. In this quote, there is no emotion toward the killing of the unwanted and only addresses the fact that it takes surgeons and a facility to get the job done. This shows how people were "immune" to the fact that innocent citizens were being killed just because their parents did not want them anymore. It is as if the surgeons performing the speciality is a normal doctor from the way that the citizens talk about them.
