I teach in San Gregorio School.

I teach in Primary Education. Nowdays I teach English, P.E, Natural Science and "tutoría" as part of the bilingual section.

What is the situation of computing teaching in your country? I think it is not a bad situation, some autonomous communities are beginning to include coding in its curriculum.

Do students learn how to use software? Yes, they do. We have a table from Year 1 to high school with all the skills which they have to achieve.

Do they already write code? Yes, they do. We have done some projects with scratch.

Do they work with robots?Yes, they do. They do as extra lessons.

Do they explore topics such as esafety? Yes, they do. It is very important to learn it.

How you could explain to your students the importance of computing?

What other methods have you used or could use to develop collaboration when working on computing related topics? How can we illustrate our students the importance of good communication when programming computers?

When they are working in groups, they have diffents roles such as:

-Time keeper.

-Leader.

-Recorder.

-Scribe.

These roles can use in computing or other projects.

2.4 Engaging Girls

Do you agree with the views presented in the video? What do you think are good strategies to engage girls in computing topics? How do you address this challenge in your classroom?

From my point of view the best way will be with mentorship of girls.

I think there is a good option in primary school.

But it will be better to improve an amazing project which can wrap girls and boys up.

3.2 Robots for Cross-Curricular Skills

I think the robots can help teachers and pupils to work the key competence learning to learn in different subjects.

This is an important reason to work with robotics which implies guided discovery, problem solving and cooperative learning in our lessons.

Hi there,

Here is a little context for my lesson plan. I teach Physical Education, Natural Science, English and Religion in primary at San Gregorio School in Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia-Spain). My students are between 6-12 years old. My class sizes are usually 17-25 students. Fortunately each student has got a mini-laptop in Year 5 & Year 6.

Focus on a process, concept, way of thinking, or skill: Teacher encourages the collaborationand students create a game with coding.

Alignment with Learning Outcomes: Yes. the learning outcomes are well defined.

Balance: Lesson plan is ok.
The lesson plan is balanced with the available time. The teacher makes the final balance of the activity with the students in the presentation of the work.

Hi,Julian!
As I can see, your lesson plan is totally balanced. There are a lot and different activities, something necessary for primary students since they get bored easily.
You are using innovative tools proposed during the course and you create a game as a final outcome.Children love games.
You have incorporated both computational thinking and the development of skills(collaboration and problem solving).
Generally, I like it a lot. Good luck in everything you do!
