         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;Elizabeth receives an arrest warrant and there is a new discovery of the poppet with a needle inside its stomach found in the proctor household. Abigail Williams accuses Elizabeth of attempted murder and stabs herself in the stomach with a needle. The poppet found at the Proctor household was made by Mary Warren and given to Elizabeth as a gift. The officials confiscating the poppet view it as a voodoo doll as well as proof that Elizabeth cast a spell on Abigail.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Abigail has a plot to replace Elizabeth, while John attempts to defend his wife by tearing the warrant. Additionally, Giles Corey and Francis Nurse arrive and tell John their wives have also been arrested. At this point in the play, John, Giles, and Francis recognize the danger of the witch trials and make the decision to defend their wives by challenging the court. John will not let his wife fall for the mistakes he has made in the past, he feels guilt. Act 2 ends with John demanding Mary to expose the truth by testifying in court the following day.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;Elizabeth Proctor has told the magistrates that she is pregnant.&nbsp; This will keep her from being executed until the baby is delivered.&nbsp; This event gives them time to try to find a solution to these accusations. The court physically examined Elizabeth, it could not find any sign to prove her pregnancy. Danforth doesn't immediately believe that she is telling the truth, but she is. John Proctor is also hesitant to believe it but then he tells Danforth that she "will never lie."<br><br></div>]]></description>
