The campus reminded me of Trent University as it is naturally beautiful; almost completely surrounded by forest and also looks over the Pacific Ocean. The campus is located on the traditional territory of the Musqueam people. As of 2016 the population was 610,000 people- making it the 8th largest city in Canada. Another change for me as Toronto's population is more than double that. As a non-Indigenous educator I would love to live in a city that is actively working with FNMI communities. Indigenous tourism dispels stereotypes and ethically preserves and promotes Indigenous culture.

The program is not scheduled to start until 2020 but the estimated tuition is $14,844.13, plus any student fees. 

UBC offers both merit and need-based scholarships that range generally from $175 to $16,000. 

Throughout post-secondary I relied on OSAP funding in both loans and grants. With the new changes to OSAP and the lack of a grace period for student debt I do not think I can count on it in the future. I've always loved spending time in museums but I didn't feel like that was actually a career option. I would love to learn more about education theory within museums. I believe that it is so important to foster positive relationships between museums and communities.
