A student's time, for first Generation, economically disadvantaged students, has multiple demands. It involves contributing to the family's subsistence/roof over the head/food on the table/sibling caretaking/other relative caretaking. Thus, what are some culturally and linguistically good practices that we can borrow, adapt, that helps families see the Assets and Strengths the families have, and that the choice to invest the minutes/hours/days it takes to engage in "studying" and college course work will lift up the entire family?
