The biggest problem with the freshmen is their poor work ethic. Most students do not do their homework, study for tests, complete projects or even attempt to make up work. They seem to think that showing up for class is enough to pass. This is very difficult to deal with in addition to their low reading and writing skills. Freshmen in general are immature and that comes with the territory. But if they do not learn to take high school seriously and do their work they will never get ahead and be successful in their academic career.

One issue of concern is attendance. Students are not coming to school on time or they are roaring the halls which causes them to enter into class late. This is a distraction to my students and myself when instruction is being provided. Incorrect phone numbers and mailing addresses make it difficult to address this issue.

Students feel they have all the time in the world to make up classes..

I am in total agreement with Ms. Young...the students feel that there is no accountability for their lack of participation as learners. There should be some sort of school wide initiative that makes these students accountable. The parents do not respond to entries on skedula as well.

Students are not achieving their full potential because they are not intrinsically motivated. I am constantly thinking of new ways to get them motivated, but I am fresh out of ideas. They are given multiple opportunities to make up work, but a significant number of these students fail to make use of this opportunity. What can I do? I know they do not want to fail.

Homework is a major concern. Students do little or no homework, regardless of consequences for not doing so. It tells that there is some home issues that need to be address.

The students need to focus on the task that is given to them. Some of the students need to be placed in real world situations based on their decisions that they are making at this moment.

The students do not attend tutoring.

Tutoring during the day is needed for students who can not stay afterschool.

Students do not want to complete their work and they do not honor deadlines. They feel that their teachers must give them make-up work.

I commend the deans for doing a better job this year! Last year it was difficult to get disruptive students out of the class; this term however, I could feel the cooperation of the deans. Should the deans continue their rapid response in removing disruptive students school tone will be greatly improved.

There is not enough support for teachers to help students. I teach many students

who need team teachers but I teach them by myself.
