I'm thinking one lens we can look through is credit for prior learning. The student is investing in themselves and needs to know they've got a lot in the bank already - and start mining that gold, which will give them confidence and direction, and a more authentic learning pathway hopefully! CAEL's credit predictor pro is a tool that documents learning, prior to or between college years. That's just a tool, the real magic happens when the light bult goes off and the student knows they've already started their learning journey and oftentimes already have college level learning and credit!

ROI discussions with students need to help them connect their classes with real-world outcomes. This is an executive function thing that younger students are still developing, but if we can find ways to help them understand how their required classes connect with skill development that translates into career needs, that helps to give meaning to the education and provides context for ROI.

Paul K. was on to something when he said he doesn't recruit high school students, he recruits the influencers. There is an element of the 'influencers' understanding the ROI and impacting the culture of encouraging post-secondary education. It's not just about the students, it's about engaging the influencers of the students (community).
