         <description><![CDATA[<p>Our Junior School students embarked on a wonderful whole school adventure to DongShan. The event was organised as an opportunity for the children to connect with nature and learn about one of the vibrant communities within Suzhou. We chose this way to celebrate Earth day to show the children some of the beautiful things that can be found on our doorstep and to cultivate a love for the world and communities around them. As part of the trip, the children took litter pickers so we could leave the area even more lovely than how we found it. Each group was able to enjoy different aspects of what DongShan had to offer: Some&nbsp; learned about Dong Shan from the museum, art and sculpture gardens and had the chance to try their hand at tea-picking.</p>]]></description>

We created artworks for an exciting exhibition that showcased the beauty and importance of underwater life. During the exhibition, we invited students' parents to join us for a watercolour workshop. Our aim was to raise awareness about the preciousness of life under the sea and the need to protect it.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>During Year 3 Art classes, we made bug cups using little clay pinch pots. Our goal was to raise awareness about the importance of sustaining the tiniest creatures on our planet, especially during the summer and hot weather. These cups are designed to hold a teaspoon of water and should be placed in the garden. The purpose is to provide a water source for the busy bugs while they are busy pollinating.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The students were learning to write persuasive letters. The final topic of their letters was to ask our catering company to use less products with irresponsibly sourced palm oil.&nbsp;<br><br>This built on their knowledge learned in Y3 about the rain forests, and linked with our unit about how the earth is changing. So they were able to build on their foundations of climate change and life on land through this activity. They also learned that there is power in our voices.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Year 3 Drama students put on a production of Eddie the Penguin Saves the World which sparked many conversations about climate action and what we can all do to make a difference. Within the script there were lots of examples of "teaspoons of change" and the students brainstormed further action to take inspired by the story. </p><p><br/></p><p>Students worked to create sustainable costumes and sets by re-using existing clothing items and by turning cardboard trash into ice bergs and cityscapes. </p>]]></description>
