Hi! My name is Cristy Jennifer. I have a simple nickname, which is Jeje. I am a person who likes performing arts, such as theatre, traditional or modern dance. Now I study at Sampoerna University, which allows me to become a prospective teacher. I hope to become a teacher who is highly dedicated to helping students discover their talents or abilities (whatever it is) because, in my opinion, not everyone likes studying in a class that only sits, listens, reads and tests. Thank you for visiting this page, have a nice day!

She showed me what a good teacher looks like. A good teacher is a friend; good teacher is a good listener; a good teacher understands student needs; A good teacher gives extraordinary dedication to seeing how successful the students that they teach, and that is all in her.

Mrs Chong - You never forget a good teacher

There are several short stories about teachers in Singapore, and the one I chose was the story from Mrs Chong. It is said that there was a student who made it through difficult times at school. He reminisced about his past, where there was a teacher who treated him well and often reminded him of big dreams. In the story, there is one sentence to which I agree, "You never forget a good teacher." I agree with the sentence because apart from parents, teachers also have an essential role in educating. The way Mrs Chong treats his students makes him always remembered as a good teacher, and I think that treating students well is important so as not to discourage them from pursuing big dreams.

Madam Pua - You work hard, and that is a big improvement

There is another story from a teacher in Singapore, Madam Pua. There was a student who did not pass because her grades were low. Seeing this, Madam Pua tried to help her to keep going and trying. On another occasion, the student still felt sad because she did not pass the exam. However, Madam Pua gave a small note to appreciate what she got. And, what I got from this story, no matter how small the achievement is, it is a good thing for the hard work we have done.

I chose Ray's story to respond to. He had a story when he was in middle school; he had unforgettable experiences with his English teacher. In short, the English teachers really appreciate Ray's hard work. The teacher was sure that Ray would have more great experiences if he worked hard with his language skills. And that gave Ray the impetus to study harder.
After I read Ray's story, I thought that all English teachers are good people, because I have the same experience as Ray. When I was in elementary and junior high school, I liked English lessons because the teachers respected students and were very dedicated to teaching students (even though I was not good at learning any material). I love to read Ray's story.

Teaching Context

In the second week, we learned about the Teaching Context. In this material, we know about various kinds of Teaching Contexts, such as the surrounding, physical & social environment, institutional norms, and personal context. After studying all these contexts, the lecturer asks the class to relate the context to our experiences during school. So, I have a story associated with a personal context, namely the teacher's attitude. When I was in elementary school, it didn't happen to me; it happened to my friends. At that time we were in line, suddenly my teacher threw a mop (seems to be pointing at the naughty student behind, but I did not know the reason). But, unfortunately, he didn't hit the target, the mop hit my friend next to me. I think the teacher's behavior shows bad things, throwing something is not the best thing to punish or warn students. In addition, if I were that teacher, I better get to the line and go to the student concerned and reprimand immediately. At least I did not cause another commotion like the ones I have mentioned above.
