Aamna A, Kailyn R

Andrew Johnson, who was a former slave owner and a senator for the state of Tennessee, created the Johnson Plan. As of right now, he is the president of the United States. One important thing about him was that he was extremely loyal to the Union. Johnson's Plan's purpose is to ensure that 10% of all voters would take an oath of allegiance to the United States. One part of Johnson's plan is "State Readmission," where the states that do not join the Union will face harsh consequences. Johnson refuses to issue a pardon to former confederate leaders, however. Because of this, each leader of the confederate states has to personally request it. Now, he is signing thousands of these pardons for the confederates, allowing them to regain their properties in these states.

Sources: "Three Reconstruction Plans" on Youtube

Lincons plan was also known as the 10% plan there were 2 steps for his main plan the 2 plans were in fact, all southerns except for high ranking CSA Political and military leaders, they would be pardoned after taking an oath to Allegiance, he was not able to be carried out since he was assassinated, when the 10% of the voters in the state had taken the loyalty oath.the state was only allowed to form a legal government. and rejoin the union. Lincons plan main reason was too quickly readmit southern states back on the union he required loyalty.

Lincoln's Plan is a plan he made to end war and strengthen the Union.

He also proposed to readmit states back in the union only IF:

10% of the southern population swore an oath of allegiance to the US.

And if states accepted the Emancipation Proclamation once states drafted new constitutions.

But since that idea was rejected by Congress for not being harsh enough, Lincoln decided to make the Emancipation Proclamation more solid and use that to readmit states. Then the 13th amendment was passed and Lincoln supported the passing of the amendment and signed the bill creating Freedmen's Bureau, making freed slaves obtain land, food, supplies, etc. (yay, slaves are now free to roam!)

The Lincoln's plan was also known as the 10% plan. The 13th Amendment was also passed In January of 1865 and after that happened, slavery was completely given up from all the states permanently and forever. President Lincoln was also quick to sign the bill and create the freedmen's bureau which which helped the former slaves to get help with Food, Water, Clothes, and basic needs after signing the 13th amendment.

in the start, the 10% plan stated that when 10% of the 1860 voters from a state had taken an oath of allegiance to the U.S. and pledged to abide by emancipation, voters could then elect delegates to draft new state constitutions and establish state governments. His reconstruction plan would change the lives of many free men, giving them more opportunity and rights, and also granting them freedom of being slaves.

Lincoln's plan is better and more suitable because it was smooth and secured the rights of African american men.

But, before Abraham could complete his thought out plan, he was sadly assassinated, leaving a huge responsibility and clear path for Johnson.
