The past three years I have taught 3rd grade at Camp Creek Elementary in Gwinnett County.
This upcoming year I will be staying in 3rd grade, but moving to a new county, school and serving third graders in a different capacity. I will be co-teaching with another third grade teacher and will work as the Special Ed inclusion teacher. I am excited to take on a new challenge and new role at Indian Knoll Elementary.

Thought on Science

I really love the hands-on nature of science because it gets kids physically involved in their learning. I tend to see "shine" in Science class more when I share my own love and excitement for certain topics. I also love how flexible you can be within science topics. There is always a role or responsibility in an activity or experiment to match each students interest or needs.
I would like to improve in finding even more ways to get my students out of their seats or outside to discover science in real-life examples. This tends to require more planning and time, but can prove to be much more successful.

My husband and I just went on our own "science" adventure in Alaska. I kept catching myself thinking, "I wish my students could see this!"
We hiked to Harding Ice Field to discover glaciers, took a boat tour to see humpback whales, sea lions, otters and many more animals. We had a guide explain plant life found in Alaska, and even turned eating new foods into a "science".
Everyone should try to make the trip!
