Although outnumbered, U.S. bombers attacked the Japanese fleet again and again. By the end of the Battle of Midway, Japan had lost four aircraft carriers and 322 planes. Never again would Japan directly threaten the United States. The tide of battle in the Pacific had turned.</div>]]></description>
