CONNOTATION: In this text they were using the word elaborate as saying a big group was waving at the same time.
The mood of this sentence it joyful but sad because all the kids wear saying good bye. The feeling of this sentence it positive. The author used this word because he wanted it to seem like they were all waving at once really heavily and with lots of emotion with it. This sentence added to the story that the kids had a really fin time at camp and were going to miss it. We learned that the plot was nt going to be at camp anymore since they were leaving and We learned that all the characters were sad to leave the camp.

The mood of this sentence it positive because it´s showing how along Raven and Brooke are getting closer. The mood of this sentence is negative (sad) because hes explaining how he struggles when he walks with his prosthetic leg. The author included this word because they wanted the reader to understand how with one tall heel its so hard to walk but imagine you have no support and your whole is a heel. This word added much more realness and connection on how Hoge felt and how the reader knows how he felt.

A man with not much to do but a ton of money meets an elephant that has been riding around in a truck for years, only to rescue him. ¨ (Pg. 49 / The elephant in the room) This evidence shows that gio cared for sila and really wanted to try a lot of different ways to cheer and help recover sila. Sila hasn't met the elephant yet but it will help her recover a little from her mothers situation. This situation is going to make Sila realize that someone cares for her and cares about how she feels and her situation.

Sila and her dad moved but Sila felt guilty for leaving the only home her mom ever lived in and loved.¨But then dread took hold. That was a pattern now. What if my mother came back and no one was home?¨ (Pg. 13 / The elephant in the room) This evidence proves that Sila really never does get over her mother getting deported but she does try really hard to at least be happy and put it behind her, but as you read more and more you understand how hard it is for sila to do that. This scene helps answer my annotation question because Sila and her dad were learning how to move on and even if they were still trying to fix their problem they were going to try to be happy and put a smile on each other's and others' faces. This scene helps Sila move on and kind of leave a piece of her life that was making her feel sad for most of her life.

This scene was one of many scenes where Sila took a step back in her recovering process and went back in her ¨hole¨ that she takes all the blame for. I think that Sila thinks this because no one is making it fair and she doesn't know who to blame it on so she just decides that she is going to blame herself for it.

When Sila met the elephant she felt for a second happy again and she kind of forgot what had happened to her mom. ¨It was the first time in more than 9 months that sila didnt think about her family problems.¨ (Pg. 106 The elephant in the room) This scene makes the readers understand how Sila was feeling and how much an elephant meant to her emotionally that it made her happy and get ¨passed her family problems¨.

Sila had lots of fun and was truly happy with her new friend and the elephant which was her favorite animal. ¨When i'm here in this land with this elephant i feel , i don't know, alive?¨ (Pg. 110 The elephant in the room) This evidence shows how Sila is moving past her mother and actually enjoying her life now that she has put her family's situation past her but not forgotten. I think that Sila is truly getting past her mother getting deported and she is learning how to live with it without completely forgetting about it.
