Life Before College

Before college and during high school,l was extremely sports-driven in my interest. I enjoyed every aspect of being on a team. I was also heavily involved in the sports broadcast program my high school provided. I got the opportunity to commentate on the High Schools girls' basketball state tournament as well as all the softball state championships as a sophomore.

My College Experience

As a freshman at the University of Arkansas, I originally majored in Broadcast Journalism. However, I soon came to realize how boring I thought the subject material was to attain that degree. I quickly changed my degree to Social Studies Education in hopes of one day sharing my passion for history. I especially love anything about the American Civil War and the American west. I am from Prairie Grove, Arkansas which is home to the Prairie Grove Battlefield Park, I attend the Civil War reenactment there every 2 years.

What I Hope to Accomplish

As a High School History Teacher more than just teaching students about historical events and figures, I want to make a lasting impact on their lives. As someone who did not always have the best home life, I think it is extremely important to understand that students go home to something that may be good or bad, they are people, and not just butts in seats. That ethier way it is important to be a person they can look up to and talk to in times of need. As educators, we may be the most responsible adults these kids interact with daily. Building a relationship built on trust and respect is what I look forward to most.
