Our Celebration of Learning and Growth by Julie Reuter

We just completed term 4 of 6th Grade. It is hard to believe we only have two more left before you become 7th graders. I am incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication to reading and writing this year. You apply skills from our mini lessons, use academic language correctly when discussing content with peers and teacher (both one on one and large group discussions), and you come to class each day with a positive attitude, ready to participate. Way to go! It is time to reflect on your success. Please share an example or success story from both reading and writing that demonstrates your learning and growth.

I am proud of myself in both writing and reading. In writing I am very proud of myself because I got a 3 and 3.5 for my Final Assessment- Plot &Theme, I am also proud of myself in writing because when I came back from having a concussion I had my first advanced spelling test because when I got it I had not gotten the chance to do it my advanced spelling test. That day I was very nervous but I found that when I got my test back I had a four, but what I am even more proud of is that each spelling test I've had since then I have gotten fours. I take my academics very seriously because I want to prove to people that it I try I am smart. Although in writing I was proud of myself I am also proud of myself in reading because I have excelled in my reading level. I think that the bookmarks have been helping a lot because then I can refresh my memory of the book I'm reading. I am also proud of my jot assessments because each one I have scored a three or higher. these are the reasons why I am proud of writing and reading because I have excelled in both.

I'm proud of what I accomplished during reading class so far this year. One thing I'm proud of, that made a dent in learning so far during reading this year, was the plot assessment for "The Girl Who Owned a City". I collected as much information as I could from other people's slides for the "Read a Book in an HOUR". I went home with the draft the day we got it and right away started thinking, "How does the layout need to look like, in order for Mrs. Reuter to be able to read it, instead of it being a big blob about 'The Girl Who Owned a City'?". I wrote down what the main ideas were at that time in the story, wrote that down, and then when test day came, I would be able to look at what I wrote down what happened during that part of the story, and then got on my computer to get information from other people's slides.
Another thing that I'm proud of accomplishing during reading class so far this year was the "Character Analysis Assessment". I'm proud of what I accomplished during this test scoring to 3's. The book I used for the "Character Analysis Assessment" was "Five Kingdoms, Sky Raiders. Raid to find out what Sky Raiders is about.
A

I am proud of my accomplishments in term 4 of my reading class. One thing that I am quite proud of is my improved ability to read for long period of time. In one week, I surpassed the goal of 120 minutes, and continued reading until I reached the end of the week. My final total for that week was 13 hours.
I am also proud of my Story Mountain assessment on "The Girl Who Owned A City", because I got a 4 on it. I am proud of it because it also shows the extent of my comprehension. That is the other thing I am proud of in reading. In the beginning of the year, my comprehension was at a reasonably good level, but my goal was to improve. Since then, I feel that I have grown extremely and want to continue.
There are also many things I am proud of in term of my writing class. One thing that I am especially proud of is my second blog called, "Playstation 4 Review". I am proud of this because it was the first blog I wrote that I got two 4s on. I also got one 3. I think that I had good detail and used good vocabulary.
Another thing I am proud of is my Motion Monday statistics. Recently, we switched to digital, which is in my range of expertise. So naturally, I had good statistics in this category. In the beginning, my average was 39 to 40. As of right now, my average is 50-60 WPM. I am proud of this because typing has always been one of my strong skills, like I previously mentioned. I was excited to start, and I still am excited every time we do it, because I've always been looking to improve.
Overall, my term 4 this year in sixth grade has been a great one. I've had some difficult times, some ups and downs, and great celebrations. But the most important thing that I want to take from this term is my growth. My teacher, Mrs. Reuter has always greatly supported us, and especially me when we are learning. I greatly appreciate how much I've done with help this term and overall year so far. I can't wait to start next term's topics, and I hope you all do too! :)

I still have enjoyed the bookmark shares although I was not supposed to be in any of them. But what I am most proud of is the fact that I've had horrible/bad grades in the beginning and now I have REALLY good grades. I still don't regret making one of my literary essays in complete German and the funny part is I got a 2 on it, but it was worth it. I am literally making fun of myself for no reason, and I'm most likely to get in trouble for this. I bet Five euros or USD.

I am proud of myself for improving in reading because at the start of the year I wasn't doing so good with my bookmark jots because when I had heard that when we were first starting bookmarks at the start of the year, I liked the idea of us writing down our total number of reading minutes because it was something that we did last year that I am used to, but I when I was too busy thinking of that I wasn't listening to what she was saying, so when I went to write my first bookmark, I came to school and then panicked because I didn't know what to do so I quickly tried to write everything down but I didn't complete it. After my first bookmark, I noticed that I needed to improve, so I did try to improve significantly and now I know that I should pay attention more in reading and that I should now continue to write down jots on my bookmarks and get them completing. I am also proud of myself for improving in writing because when we started doing blogs I wasn't doing so well with my punctuation and grammar because I didn't read it out loud so I wanted to improve, so I tried to and now I'm getting 3's, and a couple 2.5's, but I still want to improve on the 2.5's so I want to practice and get a 3.

I am proud of all the accomplishments that I had so far in language arts class. To be honest I never really liked the language art and I still don’t like some of it now. I love watching myself improve over the years. One thing that I am proud of is how much I have advanced in reading. I used to find it hard and frustrating to read. I never really was good at it. I used to mix up words when I read. This year I found it amazing that I went up four reading levels from the fall F&P testing to the winter testing.

I am also proud of how well I did on the Character Analysis: Supporting My Claims assessment. On the first on character trait #1, I got a 3 and I was really happy about that, given the fact that I typically get 2 and 2.5. I was even prouder of myself when on the second character trait I got a 3.5.

I think, that I’m doing pretty well in reading class, but I think that I’m doing even better in writing class. One thing that I’m proud of in writing class in the spelling tests. I have been doing well on these since the beginning of the school year. Everyone started on the same level and took the same spelling test in the beginning of the school year. I got 3 on all of my spelling tests, and then I moved on to the advanced spelling group and I’m getting 4 on my test now.

Lastly one of the things that I’m proud of myself is the first blog assessment ever. “ I’m a writer hear me roar.” I am really proud of this one because I got a 3.5 on it. I was new at blogging when I wrote this. This blog was a struggle for me. When I first started it I think I went through 15 pieces of paper trying to make it personal, detailed, and good, and then finally making it the best that I could by putting different writing pieces together. Even though I still need to work on a lot of things to become a better reader and writer, I am still really proud of how well I did.

I am proud of myself in both reading and writing. In reading, I am proud of myself because I made my bookmark jots a lot better now from how they were from the beginning of the year. Also in the beginning of the year, I wouldn't read a lot when it was silent reading time. Now I read a lot more pages.I am also proud of myself in writing because I went home and I read my literary essay out loud to see if I needed to make any corrections. I did this so then I could try to get a good grade on my literary essay. Also, I do a lot better on my Motion Mondays. I wouldn't write down as many words as I do now.

I am proud of myself for accelerating to new heights in my reading, and writing. At the beginning of the year, you could see I was struggling in class, and I wasn't doing so great! I have reached to new high scores in my MAPS reading. Speaking of reading, I have improved on my jots and made them more powerful. In addition, I have also been reading more page of my books and completed more books his year. I have excelled to new higher reading levels, and I am very grateful. Especially In the read aloud. In the school year, we have tried book clubs. I read a book called "Lizzie Bright, and the Buckministers boy" The book was a little confusing at times, and the chapters were amazingly long, but I thought it was great trying something new. I and my partner, Ava have received a 3.5 which is halfway to advanced learning. I have also received more excellent scores in writing on essays, and etc. I really like writing because I get to express myself - like right now - and I also get to show the humorous side of me; especially when I do my blogs, like "How I would feel if I were to have a TV Show" and "Dear Future Self". After school, I would always do a program called "Kumon" And it teaches you about math and reading. I think it had a huge impact in my life, which is outstanding. Speaking of outstanding, I have also improved on my padlets throughout the school year.

I think I have improved a lot on my blogs, I never thought blogs would be fun, but I guess I had to give them a chance, and I was happy I did because blogs are AWESOME, and I am very happy to now that Mrs. Reuter has a new blog we have to do every time. I think I would have been disappointed if Mrs. Reuter didn't start something really fun like this as homework. Thanks Mrs. Reuter!

I am also proud of myself for my bookmarks because like my blogs, they were really weak at the begging of the year, but with having to do them every week, I got better and better each one I did. I think now, I am really good with my bookmarks. They are longer and have a lot more facts and evidence in each of my jots. I am really excited to turn in my next bookmark because I think Mrs. Reuter likes my bookmarks because my book is about Iron Man. I can not wait for the next couple bookmarks!

In the beginning of the year, I stuttered a lot while reading out loud, but the more I practiced, the smoother I read. My jots on my bookmarks improved because in the beginning of the year, my jots were very short and boring. Now I put my thoughts and ideas into them. In the first month or two of school, I did not like writing, or writing class, and that's because I wasn't the best writer, but then I improved lots on how I wrote and what I wrote about. I thank Mrs. Reuter for being a wonderful writing and reading teacher, and educating us about those things, and making class exciting.

If the best teachers in the world Mrs. Reuter and Mrs. Vega did not care I would be reading like a first grader but since they cared so much they put me into expert listener and now I'm so much better in reading. Before I had terrible fluency and stamina in my reading and now I can read out loud more fluent and not always stopping. This also helped me learn new words that I did not know. What I'm proud of in writing is blogs this helped me find out how I'm doing in writing. Now I write almost every 2 weeks and before I was in 6th grade I always wondered how I was doing in writing and now blogs let me see how I am doing in writing and this also lets my parents see how I'm doing too.

I am proud of myself for doing better in classes. I was not doing so well in the reading text evidence assessments. On one of them I got a bad grade and I decided to retake it. The retake helped me because I went up and got a better grade. I am also proud of the fact that in the previous years I would be reading two minutes a page and it would take me long, but this year, I can now read faster and I am finishing books more often, except for the very long books still take me a long time. I am proud of myself for doing better in F&P testing, I went to a better reading level and I am now reading better and more challenging books. When we do our bookmarks, I will be honest, I sometimes am rushed and do it on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In my opinion, I have been doing better with bookmarks and have longer, better and more detailed jots.
In writing last year I slightly enjoyed it. It was okay for me, but I had some rough times. This year I wouldn't say it was easier for me, I am just having A better time. I feel this way because for example, my blogs have been really good and I have been trying really hard to get a more advanced grade. In reading, I am really proud of myself because if you were to look at my first bookmark and then my previous bookmark there is a big difference whether it's having more in-depth jots or even just making sure I read more than 120 minutes per week. I will keep trying to reach my goals hopefully before the start of summer. But, this year I had Mrs. Reuter to help me improve in the spots that I need a little extra attention in so that I could reach all of my goals. I want to thank Mrs. Reuter for helping not just me but all of us and instead of making the rough times worse you made them better!

In the beginning of the year I was really bad with comprehending what I was reading, for example, I was reading and when I was finished I really didn't understand the book. But now using the tools that Mrs. Reuter gave me and focusing more on what I am reading I am getting much better on my reading comprehension. I can practice on my comprehension skills by reading more at home and reading slow and focus on what I am reading.

Writing:

In writing this year I am proud of my digital Motion Monday stamina. I used to be a really slow and not very accurate typer, but since we started digital Motion Mondays my stamina has improved drastically. I have been working really hard to help myself improve on my typing skills not only how fast but my accuracy. I have been practicing typing not only in Motion Mondays but also with typing lessons in Mrs. Vegas room. Overall I think that I am doing really good with typing.

In reading, I'm proud of my unique self and started a new series, called Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger and I REALLY like it. I am on the third book called Everblaze. For the Girl Who Owned a City story mountain, I got a 3 and it's good enough for me! In writing, I'm so happy about my blogs and how far I've grown in writing them. My personal narratives were not the best but I did what I can. I still cannot believe school is almost over! I don't want it to be!!

~Ella 2017

I am most proud of this year in reading is how reading has really kind of moved me. It used to take my almost a month to finish a book and now I can Finish a book in 2 weeks all because of what Mrs. Reuter teaches us in her class we learn about plot and theme. Then we take a test on those topics and those tests I get 3s or sometimes 4s and that feels really good when I find out that I get a good grade and that is what pushes my to try harder than I would at home. I am most proud of this year in writing is how fast my stamina has been handwriting and typing. So every Monday we do this thing called motion Monday where we get one minute to see how fast or how many words you can write or type in 1 minute. At the start of the year for writing, I wrote 13 words and now I can write 26 words per minute. When we started to type I typed 26 words per minute and now I can type 35 words per minute for me typing that is a great growth.

For example, I use it a lot more than before I came into 6th grade. I also improved on my details which I took only like one word or nothing to describe something, but now I can describe something with one or two sentences for one thing.

In reading, I am super proud because I can read a lot better than before I moved up a few levels and I got a lot better at reading difficult words in books. I like that I can also see the plot and theme in books that I would Just read for fun because Mrs.Reuter taught me how to find themes and the plot in any book, I even found one in a kid book they had like 10 words on each page and I found them in it still.

WRITING: I am proud of my spelling this year. So far, I have earned four 4’s and four 3’s in spelling. I will continue to study the night before the test and to become an even better speller than I am right now. I love spelling because it is pretty easy for me and I enjoy doing it a lot. Plus, my mom is a great speller and she always helps me if I don’t understand what a word means. I really like spelling and I am very proud of my scores. I hope to keep getting good grades and to study the night before the test, so I can remember the words and definitions. I hope that you enjoy spelling, too.

READING: I am proud of my book club work. We did it for the first time this year in January. I earned a 3.5 and I was really happy. My partner was Connor and he was a really good partner because he always had his work done. He didn’t talk about other things that we weren’t supposed to be talking about. When Mrs. Reuter came to listen to our conversation she smiled and wrote stuff down the entire time. She gave us some tips and said that we were a great group and that made me all warm and fuzzy inside. I hope that Mrs. Reuter chooses to have us do another book club thing. I am very proud of my book club score and hope to do it again.

READING: In reading, I am proud of my ability to keep up with my group in book club. In this fun activity, I was able to share my ideas about the book and add onto the ideas of other people in my group like my important quote and my idea about the book. These things show how I am able to recall the book and tell the people that are around me about what happened from 1 to 100 pages!!! Also in reading, I was able to get to a very high level in my guided reading level so that’s always something that I can look at when I’m older and say that I worked hard to accomplish that. Not only that but, I was able to learn many things like how to create a story mountain properly that shows the beginning, the rising action, the climax, the falling action, and the ending all correctly and explain them to other people.

WRITING: In writing, I was able to break the maximum amount of wpm you can have on the power writing chart on my first ever try on digital motion Mondays, which is 75 by the way. Not only that but I was also able to write about interesting topics for the blogs that we have started. I have also learned how to pick out and support a certain theme in a story that is represented throughout the entire book. Using a thesis state that will give a taste of the rest of the essay and is clear and concise. Through the entirety of writing, I have learned to do many things that range from learning how to write a personal narrative to supporting a theme using text evidence. These things show how I have grown from a student that has forgotten pretty much everything that I have learned in 5th grade, to someone that is able to proudly say that he is almost ready for 7th grade.

READING: Not just for me, but for everyone, we can all say that we definitely have learned, and grown a ton more throughout the school year, I for one, feel I have grown a ton this year. Over the year, my reading level has elevated up, by 4 levels. I feel very proud of this, because by achieving a higher level, I know I have learned more. I am also very proud of my scores on assessments, because of how long they take me! My average score is a 3.5-4. Additionally, I feel I have accomplished a lot higher level thinking jots for bookmarks. They went from, “I think” to “I assume the theme of this book is.” I find that pretty cool, knowing I have been growing throughout my overall reading. My continuous goal throughout the school year, is just to continue achieving the scores I get on my tests, and to keep growing as a learner. I am also looking forward to maps tests, to just see how I progress from Fall, to Spring.

WRITING: In writing, I feel my stamina, and ideas have changed a ton since the beginning of the year. I especially feel that my blogs have helped me progress on my writing skills. I feel very accomplished in the blog area, because I think they’re a way to let your ideas flow. On my most recent blog, I got a 4, 4, and a 3. Honestly, although blogs have helped me grow, my blog scores have stayed mostly the same. On my first ever blog, I got a 4. I find that intriguing, knowing that blogs have helped me to progress in my writing. Looking back at my first ever padlet draft, I see how small it is, compared to this. My last one was about only 6 sentences! That’s quite a difference! Not to brag but, I’ve always found myself fond of spelling, and this year, advanced spelling has showed me what a challenge it really is! Compared to prior years, we only had to spell the words instead of state the definitions, roots, root definitions, and spell the word correctly! I still like spelling though, and don’t find myself giving up on spelling days. This year, I’ve had 8 3’s, and 2 4’s! Nothing below a 3, which is good enough for me.

In conclusion, we have grown a lot from September to now. Speaking for the whole class, the stamina given from fall to now, is amazing. Although not every test is going to be a perfect 4, above and beyond, sometimes we have those really impressing moments, even out of tests. My goal is to continue persevering, and growing as a learner in language arts.

WRITING: Something that I am very proud of this year in writing is my blogs. On all of them, I got at least two threes. On most, I got at least one four. I’ve gotten amazing grades on my blogs that I’m very proud of. My highest blog is at an overall 4. I am very proud of all of my blogs, but I am especially proud of that one in specific. I’m also very proud of my motion Monday growth. In motion Mondays, I’ve grown a lot. I started at a rate of 30 words per minute, now I’m at around 45 words per minute. I’m super proud of my growth throughout the year, but I’m especially proud of blogs and motion Monday.

READING: Something that I am very proud of this year in reading is my bookmark jots. I now am doing detailed jots about my book, instead of “I wonder…” or “I think…”(not that these are bad jot starters, I just have been doing more detailed jots and I'm proud of that). I’ve been doing lots of theme jots lately, which I’m very proud of. My growth in jots this year is to me, unbelievable. I’m also very proud of my text evidence assessments. I’ve been getting really good grades on my text evidence assessments. In the beginning of the year, I barely knew what text evidence was, but now, I’m super familiar with it. I’m super proud of my overall growth in reading this year, but I’m especially proud of my bookmark jots and my text evidence assessments.

WRITING: One thing I am very proud of in writing is the first literary essay that we did. I got two 4’s, two 3.5’s, and one 3. I am very proud of myself because Mrs. Reuter even said before we got our essays back that it was very common that people got 2’s and not very common to get above a three. After I got my test back I was bursting with joy! I think I received the grades I got because I used very good detail in my story about Trisha in Thank you, Mr. Falker, by Patricia Polacco. I also connected my words about the story to real-world scenarios and I also had good detail on the introduction and ending which is how I got 4’s on both. I am very proud of my first literary essay.

READING: One thing I am proud of in reading is my reading level. When we met and read a book with Mrs.Reuter a little before school starts, like every year, I was kind of nervous. After I read the book and Mrs.Reuter told me my reading level I was so proud of myself! I’m excited to try out new books in my reading level. Another thing I am proud of in reading is our final plot and theme assessment. On that assessment, I got two 4’s! I am very proud of myself because it took me two or three whole reading classes to finish it. I did it on Counting by 7s, by Holly Goldberg Sloan. I added detail but not the important little details that you don’t need in a summary. I am also very proud of this in reading.

I am proud of my growth, my stories have been getting not just longer, but better. In the future, my goal is to get 60 words per minute!! I think I can accomplish this goal by the next end of the term. My other thing that I am proud of is my brainstorming rubric. Recently I have been getting all 3’ s. I am proud of this because brainstorming rubrics are where Mrs.Reruter look in our composition notebooks and assesses on how good our not taking and work is. I want to get 4’s on my brainstorming rubrics in the future. Those are the few things I am proud of in writing.

READING: In my Plot and Theme assessment, I got a 3 on the plot part and a 4 on the theme part. I am proud of this because I worked really hard on this assessment and it made me feel really good about myself. In the future, I want to get more 4’s because you feel really good when you get a 4. My next thing I am proud of is my Character Analysis because I got a 3. I did it on Slower Than the Rest. I did this text because it really spoke to me, it really paid off because I got a good grade. Next time ewe do an assessment I want to push myself so I get a 4!!

WRITING: I am very proud of my writing so far! I’m in the advanced spelling group, and so far I’ve gotten lots of 3s, a couple of 4s, and, unfortunately, one 2. I really enjoy spelling, and my mom is really good at it, so if I need help with something I don’t understand, I go to her! I also enjoy spelling because we have a lot of time to do it, so it’s not stressful, and I am very proud of my scores! I’m also doing a good job at Motion Mondays. My highest typing score is 57, and my highest writing score is 38. I like reading my silly stories to my classmates, and I like hearing what the other people have come up with. My favorite graded thing I’ve received is definitely my character-based literary essay when I got all three 3.5s and two 4s. I wrote my essay about Trisha being different from Thank You Mr. Falker. I also love blogging, as I can basically just write anything interesting down and call it a blog! I get constant 3s through 4s, and I like the days of writing where we just type up our blogs!

READING: Reading is my favorite subject in school. Once, for a text evidence assessment, I was tested at a seventh/eighth-grade level and received a 3, and that’s what I’m proudest of so far! I’m pretty good at character analysis, along with plot and theme assessments. I love doing my weekly jot bookmarks, as they make me think and look in between the lines of my book. I like silent reading time the most, though, as it gives me time in school to simply relax and not really put my mind into it. For my F&P test, I went up a level, and that made me really happy! I really liked the story mountain assessment for The Girl Who Owned a City, because it took me a while and I got a 4.

So, that concludes that! Thanks for taking time to read this!

I am very proud of this blog because when I first heard about blogs I was a little nervous. However, when the time came for our first blog I got proficient and exceeding scores. But I was never able to bring my spelling and punctuation up for a 3 to well a 3.5 or a 4. So when she passed back this blog I was thrilled; I got a four in content a four in organization, and a 3.5 in spelling and punctuation. I was really happy, as silly as it might sound to you it meant a lot to me. This is one of my favorite writing pieces.

Reading:

I am most proud about my text evidence benchmark assessment. These two assessments are really my top 2 favorite reading papers and I’m really proud of them.

Writing

I am proud of my blogs because each time I turn in my blog I get 3’s and 4's. I also like doing blogs because it allows me to write about what I want and it allows me to get feedback without it having to be one of my actual papers. I also enjoy it because it is a skill I'm good at though I can still improve upon it by making it more detailed. I could also find different topics to make my stories more interesting and hook more readers in because ten I can know what I did well on and what I can improve upon. But now that we are starting informational blogs it will be more of a challenge because we’ll be having to write about a requires piece.

Reading

I really did good on my book clubs because I got a 3.5 on the rubric. I was prepared every day and I met the requirements about the definition, question, and quote. But I could’ve improved on making them bigger or having more Because my group would after we shared our quotes and that we would just talk about other stuff that is happening in the book. Also some of our conversations we would just go back and forth of why this or this happened or I think the so and so is still alive. We could’ve had a better planned out conversation so we had a couple topics to talk about, so overall we could’ve just had a better planned out conversation.

I was very proud of this because it shows that was proficient and advanced in the assessment. I was very proud of myself and my parents were too. I think that I did very good and so I was super proud of this. I picked it because I worked very hard on it and my hard work paid off. This one I was not nervous a single bit and had a lot of confidence in myself. This assessment is my best work in reading so far. But, I plan do get better ones like all four’s!

Writing: In writing what I am most proud of SO FAR are my advanced spelling tests. I had a rocky start in regular, (before I got in advanced) but I started to do better. To get into advanced spelling you you had to get three 3’s in the regular group. It took me a couple tries to get into advanced spelling but I eventually did and have taken two tests in advanced. The thing I like about advanced is that it’s not all about spelling the word correctly, it’s about more. Their latin roots, root definition, and the word’s definition. In advanced, I am on a streak of 4’s so far which is really good. On my first advanced I got 22/24 correct and on my second I got 28/28!! I am very proud of those two tests.

WRITING: Looking back at all of my grades, all I have to say is wow. I can tell I have grown a lot throughout the four terms of 6th grade. My favorite are the spelling tests. At the beginning of the year, I was okay. Now looking back at them, I can tell I have grown a lot. At the beginning I was getting 2s and 3s, but now I am getting 4s as a grade! I am so proud of myself. So far I have taken three advanced spelling tests and my grades from those include a 4, 3, and a wonderful 4. My goal is to keep up to awesome work and to aim even higher by being very precise on my definitions for each word.

READING: Honestly, I can not say how much I have grown in my opinion. An example is my bookmarks. Looking back at my first bookmark I've done, I have to admit, it was pretty bad compared to the ones I have now. My jots now take up two spaces on my bookmark! They are filled with evidence from the text, page numbers, my thinking and more. Another quick example is my book club packet. I got a 4 as a grade on that. I really like it and I think I did an awesome job on that! To conclude this, I give all of my thanks to Mrs. Reuter! She is the one who taught me LOTS of new things and techniques. So, thanks, Mrs. Reuter! You are awesome!

READING:

In reading, I am proud of my reading bookmark jots. In the beginning of the year, I wasn’t that strong in jots. I put a couple of sentences and that was really it. Over time I have grown stronger in my jots and have put a lot more effort into my jots. I am overall proud of my jots and reading in general. I have moved up many levels in reading and I am very proud, I never thought I would make it this far in reading. I’m not strong in reading so that’s why I am proud of how far I come in term 4. I know that I have grown because when we are learning something in class, for example, theme. I incorporated a theme jot onto my bookmark. At the beginning of the year, I really disliked reading because I could never find a good book to read and I soon got very very bored of reading and that’s another reason why I am not strong in reading is because I don’t like to read. But this year I have learned to love reading and read good books that I enjoy this year.

WRITING:

I am the most proud of my motion Monday on paper and digitally. At first, I was in the low 40’s for words per minute on paper. Over time I have grown stronger and my hand wrote faster. My highest score was……70 words per minute!! I know it seems not true but it is!! I worked super hard and wrote super fast to get that high. It was very hard to get to that point but I did it, I reached my goal!! I have improved so much !!! On the digitally my highest so far has been low 60’s. I love typing and I have very good speed. I plan on getting more accurate with my words. I also plan on working on my speed and getting more speed to get more words per minute. Overall I am very proud of my writing but I am most proud of my motion Mondays, especially digitally.

READING: One of the things that I am proud of in reading would be my bookmarks. I am proud of them because they share a lot of my thinking and may convince fellow readers to read the same books as I am. When I read my bookmarks I wonder the same thing as the jot. That’s why it is important to ask questions on the bookmark, because it will make other readers wonder about it, and then the’l want to read my book.

WRITING: One thing that I am proud of would be my blogs. I am proud of my blogs because I think they reveal a lot of my creativity. I am also proud of my blogs because they show what I am like as a person. I like to use my imagination for my fiction blogs, I am convinced that I have always had a big imagination. For my nonfictional blogs I write based on true experiences from my life the come straight from the heart. This is also why I feel they show me as a person. I am proud of my blogs because when I read them I see myself in the writing, and I am proud of the things I put together to accomplish something that shows so much of myself in it.

Reading:

I am extraordinarily proud of my reading class abilities and the strong connection I’ve created with reading. One thing I am extremely proud of are my bookmarks. I am greatly proud of my bookmarks and how I have turned in every bookmark assigned this year. I have taken a look at my bookmarks in the beginning of the year and compared them to my previous bookmarks. The difference in jots is amazing, my growth in reading minutes is utterly astounding, and my overall bookmark developing is incredible. I am so very fortunate to have Mrs. Reuter as a mentor and I’m highly privileged to be learning about all of the advanced knowledge she contains

I am also proud of my Mid- Year Text Evidence Assessment on, leaving animals out of the classroom. I am extremely proud of the whole paper and honored to use the 7/8th grade rubric. For the assessment I received a 3.5 on the advanced rubric, and I will practice and work on bumping that grade up. Overall, 6th grade reading class has been my favorite class I’ve ever attended. And I’m super privileged to have Mrs. Retuer as a teacher, to give me all of the information I need to strive and continue to grow. Thank you Mrs. Reuter for being the best reading teacher and uncovering the talent I have.

Writing:

I am quite proud of my writing class abilities, and how much I have grown from the beginning of the year. I’m especially proud of my blogs this year. So far, all of my blogs have been graded with two 4’s and one 3.5 or 3. I love all of the blogs I have written, and when a new one is assigned I try to release all of the amazing ideas I have onto paper, and craft them into a masterpiece. I very much appreciate Mrs. Reuter’s teaching strategies and constantly giving us examples of what our writing should look like. This helps me a lot because I’m a visual learner, and I must see what I’m supposed to do in order to push myself to the limit.

I am also super proud of my character based literary essay. I am extremely proud of my advanced vocabulary, sentence structure, and writing skill I put into the essay. For the literary essay, I received a 3.5 for my lead, 4 for my organization and transition, 4 for my craft and elaboration, 3 for my ending, and 3.5 for conventions. I plan to practice my literary essay writing, and hopefully, I receive similar grades for the theme based literary essay we just completed. Again, I appreciate Mrs. Reuter and her astounding mentor skills. Throughout the essay writing process, she has walked us through everything we need to know in order to publish a successful piece, and she encouraged us to give it all we had. Thank you Mrs. Reuter for all of the valuable help and putting in so much work throughout the year.

Reading:
I am very proud of what skills I have uncovered this year in reading! One thing that I'm extremely proud of is my reading level. I am very proud of my reading level because in the beginning of the year I was a V and after F and P testing this year, I'm a Z independent. I've looked at some of the books that I used to read as almost like "little kid" books. Also now that I'm free to read almost anything I have a lot more book choices, plus they're challenging and I love a good challenge. I'm also happy that Mrs. Reuter has given me the tools to succeed in reading this year!

Writing:
This year in writing I have grown tremendously. I think that something that I have done good in this year are my blogs. I think that from never doing blogs before to earning 4's on the first one was a big accomplishment! I have liked blogging this year because I get to write about what I what to write about. Even though sometimes it is tough to come up with a topic. I love having Mrs. Reuter as my writing teacher because she gives me many great resources that I basically need to make a fabulous writing piece.

Reading:

This year in reading I have grown greatly. The skill I am most proud is my jot taking ability. On the bookmarks in the beginning of the year, they were not as detailed as my bookmarks today, they lacked text evidence which I try to included on my previous bookmarks. In our jot assessments, I have gone up tremendously in my grades, my previous score is a 3.5. I am very proud of how much I’ve grown with my jot taking ability, and many more skills I have grown with.

Writing:

This year in writing I have grown a lot in many different ways. One way I think has stood out in progress is my leads. I use to have trouble on leads in previous essays, but now I have improved a lot. I went from not understanding to receiving a 3.5. Now I am confident with my leads and want to continue on them to try to get a 4.
