The most part of athletes are a little sad but they understand the situation and they know that it’s the best decision they could made. Some are happy to because they have more training time to get ready. I guess they still training because it would be a big mistake to stop it all. How they train, I guess they are doing jogging, CrossFit, etc. I think the most difficult thing for them, is that they trained very hard all their life to end at Olympic Games but when they are near to it, Covid get out and make them wait another year. In the first 8 months of 2021, I don’t think it would happen because even they found a vaccine against Covid-19 tomorrow, they need to do all the procedures, tests, certification, and a lot more stuff. So, all that would take around 6 to 12 months. But after that step, they need to immuns everyone so around 2 month. So, I think it’s not possible before September 2021.

All of the athletes are sad that there is not going to be any olympics this year but they also understand that that was the good choice. Health is more important than sport. They cannot train during this pandemic so some of the athletes were nervous to not be in shape in the olympics would have took place. It’s a relief in some kind of way. If I was one of them I wouldn’t be angry about the situation because it would just give me a another year to train and to improve. The most difficult thing for them I think is to try to stay in shape while being at home. There is for sure going to be olympics in 2021 but it might not be in Tokyo.

alexandre parent Alexandre Parent . The canoe guy thinks it's a good descision to cancel this 2021 gigantic event. First, he thinks competing against other atheletes that can't train and prepare themselves like he can furtunatly do is unfair. Second, because the spreading of the virus in the crowd will be badly massive. This man has a lucky chance to continue trainning in river and lake nearby and also mention that this sports is advantageous compore to the other because of the social distancing with other while trainning .He stay relax and not think about all the stressfull stuff going around. But he stay active because of his adhd( he kind of mention ). If I was one of them I would take this long break as a chace to grind. I think there won't be a 2021 olympic, it will be to difficult and stressfull to organise whit all the strict mesure to respect. Alexandre Parent

Jonathan Nteziyaremye. Some people take this as an opportunity to prepare more and be more ready for the next olympics However, a lot of athlete are disappointed because they’ve worked hard for four years but they understand the situation and they know it's for the best. I guess they are still training because it would be a big mistake to stop it all. The most difficult thing for them is, as I said, the fact that they have been waiting for a whole 4 years and for some even more to get prepared for not that much of minutes or performances. The olympians make sure that they are in shape by working out, running, etc. I don’t think that it is impossible that the Olympics happens in September 2021. I think that they should make sure that all athletes that would participe to the competition are 100% sure that they don’t have the virus. They should also bring no crowd so this way they would reduce the chances that someone catch it.

Yes, he is still training and he can also respect the social distances because is sports is individual. I would feel sad because all the efforts I put in my training will not serve. I think that the most difficult thing is for the athletes in lockdown to train. I don’t think that there will be in 2021 the Olympic because they said it will take 1 or 2 years to find a vaccine.

Maxime Deschênes

He feels great that the 2020 Olympic are postponed . He thinks that it’s a wise decision to postpone the Olympic. Yes he is still training because he is in a situation that they haven’t gone on a lockdown yet and canoe slalom is a socially distance sport just inherently so he goes on the lake whenever he wants and he doesn’t have anybody near him so it’s just normal for him . If I were one of them I would feel the same way as him like I would think that it’s a good decision and he can practice his sport anyway so it would be nice. In my opinion It’s different for every athlete like one would not be able to practice is sport, another would not be able to go out of his house and another would have problems with his family so it depence. If we found the vaccine, yes, but if we don’t find one, no .

Noémie Lagacé

She feels relieved that the committee has announced the postponement of the game because she really wanted to know. It’s nice for her to be able to connect with other athletes all over the country. Kylie agrees that their decision was the right one because, of course, she wants everyone to stay safe. She has been able to slow down her training a little bit and it’s tough for her to continue because she definitely needs a pool to train and can’t swim without one. If i was one of them, I would definitely be very disappointed, but I’d probably try to be confident and wait to see what the Olympic committee's decision will be for the next years. In my opinion, the most difficult thing for them must be to stay confident that the games will occur next year because it must be hard for them to stay positive that all the training they did all those years wasn’t for nothing. For now, it is still impossible to know for sure if there will be a 2021 Tokyo Olympic, but I think that if the situation is better, it will definitely happen because they can’t let down all the athletes by telling them that they will have to wait longer.

I this video the athletes feels like it was the right call to postpone the Olympics, but they are still disappointed that it will be reported next year because they have trained a lot, put a lot of time and dedication to their sport but without any competition at the end. They also feel relieved form putting the olympics community at risk and putting them self at risk. Some of them are enjoying this decision because it will let them be better next year because they will have a lot more time to practice. They are also happy that it is postpone than cancelled. If I was one of them I would be more then happy that this decision has been made because I wouldn’t like the fact that the virus would spread because of me and the other athletes. I think that the most difficult thing for them is looking at the fact that they have trained for a
long time but they can’t participate in this year Olympic and that they have to train for an other year. I will hope that there will be a 2021 Olympic because they deserves it and that they have put every thing on the ligne to participate in these games.

Even though most athletes feel disappointed, they know that this is a good decision because they want to keep the population safe. They still train since most of them said that they have more time to train for next year, as for how, the athletes did not say. If I were in their place, I would feel the same, disappointed but understanding of the decision, I would look at the situation with an optimistic and altruistic point of view. The most difficult thing for them, in my opinion, is probably the fact that they trained very hard all the way up to the games only to have it canceled. There probably will not be a Tokyo 2021 because it takes around a year to make a vaccine and even if a vaccine is found very soon, the health organizations like the FDA (USA), Health Canada (Canada), PMDA (Japan), etc need to regulate the vaccine created, which takes time and can be rejected if deemed not safe, if so, the whole process would restart.

First, when she learned the new, she didn’t really know how to feel, so she started to cried, but she realized that it was the good decision to postponed the olympics for the health of all the world, so now that she understands the decision , she feels more comfortable with it. Yes, she still trains herself with a homeworkout, she trains her body(arms, legs, abs). Her coach face time her at her home to make sure, she stay healthy. I don’t know how i will feel if i was one of them, because i don’t know if it’s good for them that they postponed the olympics for 1 years. She probably feel sad, because she waits for that moment all her life, but at the same time, she knows that she has 1 year again to practice and prepare herself, so i don’t really know. The most difficult thing for them with the crisis now, it’s probably the mental. For the physical part, im pretty sure that their coaches will do a pretty good job, so i think that the mental will be a good challenge. Olympic in 2021? I don’t really know it depend, i mean if the Covid-19 continue it won’t be possible, but if the people do their jobs and the number of cases of the covid stop growing, i think it will be possible to have the event in 2021.

(Océane Simard) Kylie Masse doesn’t know what to think, but she is definitely relieved to that. She approves the decision for her, it was the right decision for us and for the rest of the country. She still train, but it difficult because there is no pool that she can use. She tain out of the pool. I think that the most difficult thing for them is that they were preparing there self for this moment for so long, some of them were preparing there self for four years. I think that maybe they would need to wait one more year because the pandemic start in this country and they would need to be sure that there are no risk for the athletes.

(Emy Laplante )First, she was very sad that the Olympic was postponed, because she worked hard, but she understands the decision of the Olympic committee because it’s more important that everyone is safe and have a good health. Also, Simone was sad because she can’t see a lot her family, but she FaceTime them and do some training to stay fit like she does ABS, arms, legs, go walking with her dog. She
approuve the decision because she said that we needed to make sure that everyone is healt and safe. Yes she does some home workout everyday and she does some FaceTime with his coaches. She just try to stay healthy and in shape. She does body workout like ( arms, abs , legs). If I was one of them I won’t know I Would react. For sure I will be sad but I would think that it’s a good decision. I think that the most difficult things for them It will be to return to the gym. They would need to have more practice. I think the Olympic in 2021 won’t happen because they would probably wait a other year to make sure that the Covid-19 is really over.

Julianne Labbé. It’s a disappointment for most of the athletes who were to compete in the Olympics, but most people are aware that it is to save lives and that it’s the best decision because people’s health is the priority and there are things bigger than sport. Also, they see the bright side of things. They will have more time to train for next year's Olympics

She is relieved that the committee announced the postponement of the Olympic Games, because she was nervous about the final decision. She knows that this was the good decision even if she doesn’t want them to be postponed, because this was the best thing to do to keep the world safe. It’s tough for all the athletes because they have to train very differently with what they have at home. It’s even difficult for the swimmers like Kylie, because they definitely need a pool or they can’t swim. I think the most difficult thing for them was at first to wait for the decision of the committee if the Olympics will be canceled for this year. Now, I think it’s more to wait for if the Games will occur next year, because they are certainly very stressed to know if their 4 years of intense training will be useful. Presently, I think that if the world situation don’t get better in the few coming months, the Olympics won’t occur next year, because they will wait until the most part of the world returning to their normal lifestyle.

The athletes are disappointed that the Olympics are postponed, but they understand the circomstances and they still have the Olympics next year. They also think that they will have more time to practice to be even better next year. All the athletes are supporting the fact that they wont't be Olympics this year because it's for the best.

Louis-Charles Tremblay 302 In this video, all of these athletes are sad about the situation that they will not go to the olympics this year. But they understand that sometime there is somethings more important than the sport. The good news that the athletes are aware of this situation is that they will have a lot of more time to get ready for the next year. However, it is disappointing for them because all of these athletes have train very hard for this world competition but they things it is the best thing to do.

Both of the athletes thinks that postponing the Olympic Games is a wise decision because the event gathers thousands and thousands of people and with this global pandemic it wouldn’t be a smart idea to do it anyway . Casey Eichfeld also thinks that because most of the country’s are on lockdown a lot of athletes won’t be well prepared for the competition even if some sport are practiced alone and isolated . It wouldn’t be worth it to compete against unprepared athletes

Simone Biles

Simone Biles was clearly disappointed that the Olympics were canceled because she had trained for so long for her goal. She said that the Olympic Committee did the right things by cancelling the event. Simone said that she still trains at home by doing strength and flexibility training at home, she always stays in contact with her coach. If a was her a would be very disappointed too because Olympic athletes work so hard for so long that canceling makes it feel like they did it for nothing. The most difficult thing for them is staying focused on their training and health until they can resume their normal training schedule. I think their will be a 2021 Olypics because in a year from now a vaccine will probably have been found and so the Olypics may go on.

Philippe Marchand

Vincent Beaulieu Which emotions do the athletes feel?- Do they approve the decision of the Olympic committee or not?- Do they still train? How?- How would you feel if you were one of them?- In your opinion, what is the most difficult thing for them?- Do you think there will be a 2021 Tokyo Olympic?

After the decision, Andre didn’t get a lot of sleep, but day by day he started to feel good by having good time with his children that keep him busy. He approved the decision of the olympic Committee saying that our healt come first. He have stopped the training to be ready if the olympic were removed to 2021. If I was him, I would feel sad, because I would have trained a lot just to gent announce that the onlympic are remove.
