The spaces in Italy were Romans once lived aren't as life-filled as they used to be. They used to be lush, green lands that had tons of plants. This attracted many animals to Italy. The lush soil helped with crops for the Romans to eat. Plus, the animals were meat for the Romans to eat.

The alps are a mountain range that runs through what is now Europe. This may have made settlement more difficult for the Romans. Somewhat like Greece, it could have divided the Romans. They are an obstacle that split Italy in half, so they could have made travelling and trading difficult because the routes to trade may have not been as easy to travel through so it made settlement difficult for the Romans.

The Mediterranean sea was an source of water the Romans had access to. It is in the middle of southern Europe and Northern Africa. This made it possible for the Romans to trade and travel, unlike the Alps. This sea allowed them to instead travel by sea, even though the Mediterranean Sea is almost completely closed of by land. They could use the Mediterranean's trade routes to trade with other civilizations to get what they wanted
