One of the most important cities in America is hollywood, is the most popular city in Los Angeles. It is the "capital" of the world movie industry.

The victorian era started in 1837. Victoria became queen at the age of 18 on 20th june 1837. She hadn't a happy childhood; her father died when she was 8 months and she was brought up very strictly by her german mother, the duchess of Kent, and her guardian sir John Corroy. They imposed a very strict regime of discipline on Victoria: she couldn't spend time with other children and she had lessons at home. In 1836 she met the german prince Albert of Saxe-couburg and in 1839 Victoria asked Albert to marry her: Victoria and Albert had 9 children, but when she was 42 years old, Albert died unexpectedly form typhoid fever. From that moment util her death in 1901 Victoria retired from public life. Her reign, know as the Victorian era, lasted more 63 years. The Victorian era was a period of great industrial expansion and reform, injustice and poverty. Slavery and child labour were abolishe, and education for children was introduced in 1871. She was called empress of India beacuase she conquered India with the British Empire.

Martin Luther King was born in Atlanta,Georgia,USA in 1929. On August 28,1963 the reverend Martin Luther King Jr. led a great peaceful march for civil rights to Washington D.C.:there were about 250,000 people.It was the most famous “March for Freedom”.There was no violent action,all were praying and singing and listeningto their leader.
While he was a student a seminary in Philadephia,he became enthusiastic about the writings of Mahatma Gandhi. In 1954 he became the minister of a small Negro Church in Montgomery.Here he carried out the first non violent protest against racial discrimination:the mass boycott of the Montgomery bus company. The protest originated from a serious episode of intolerance: on december 1, 1955 a black women, Rosa Parks, was arrested because she had taken a seat reserved for white people on a bus. Martin advocated passive resistance: he wanted to assert black rights but with peaceful means.
He was arrested many times and his house was destroyed by a bomb.

Its capital is New Delhi, it has a government with a federal republic and various religions: Hinduism, Islam. , Christianity, with strong rivalries between them, so as to complicate their coexistence. During queen Victoria's reign India became the jewel of britain's crow. There were several revolts against British rule and thanks ti Ghandi's non violento movements India obtained indipendence in 1947.Gandhi was born in India in 1869. As a young man he went to London to study law, then went to live in south Africa. He become a leader of the indian community and organized protest against injust laws. He was a pacifist and his methods of protest were completely non-violent.
