Whole class discussion- students orally create sentences using unit/story vocabulary, during which they debate and refine the structure of the sentences that they will place on our anchor chart.

Have students do a turn and talk. Using digital tools to record their own writing so they & I can listen to it. Getting them used to the oral piece since it is part of testing. Also presenting this as a "presentation" of their work and not a "test taking tool"

I promote oracy by having students use the academic words in sentences and allowing them to speak in small groups about how these words could be used in different contextual settings

Turn and talks before they physically write out questions.

Verbally use the vocabulary words in a sentence with their group members.

Dictado - students talk about what the sentence would mean in Spanish and debate on how it should be written based on the words used in English.

Students in pairs talk and share words that begin with the letter being studied that day.

Students turn and talk to discuss true false statements.

Students discuss the story we read that day. they talk about problem/solution, what they like most, etc

We have whole group discussions.
Students write every morning and each students has to sharing their writing with another student.

Before we read the weekly text we look at the pictures and focus on asking questions about what they see or do not understand. They are encouraged to share if they have any knowledge about a topic. When working to answer these questions - students are encouraged to answer their peers if they know the answer.

During small group reading, the students complete a plot chart as a group about their assigned book on the board before I join. I eavesdrop on their discussions.
