- It's an internal struggle mostly. The stresses and pressures of being a teacher versus the joy i get being with the kids. In general, it's a challenge that warms my heart" (Page 4, Teacher G). This particular quote was an example response to a question and we were tasked with picking which quote resonated with us the most. I chose this quote because becoming a teacher has many many ups and downs that some might not be able to overcome. The love of teaching and the feeling of achievement when you see your students do well are things that drive teachers and I hope that I can be that teacher some day. This quote changed my perspective because I thought the path to becoming a teacher was just getting a degree, a certification, and that be the end of it; but it's so much more than that. This quote made me realize that there are numerous struggles and obstacles that every person faces when on the road to being a teacher. I chose this quote because I was a student that was most excited for band and my computer technology class. many of my teachers just taught the curriculum so I felt disconnected. If i didn't have band or if I didn't have my computer classes, I didn't want to go to school because i felt that everything else was pointless. This quote changed my thoughts on teaching because in the sense that I know that I'll need to go the extra mile as a band director to make sure that my students are motivated and enthusiastic about more than just music. The same goes for me. There were very few times when I had a teacher that inspired me. It seemed like none of them cared about the students as much as they cared about their paycheck. I chose this quote because being a teacher takes more than just conveying some information. A student could be a brilliant mathematician but struggle in english and as a result, the student is labeled negatively. In school, even though I was one of the quieter kids, I was singled out when other people were doing the same things I was doing. I watched a video of a transgender student using the bathroom and the teachers and security guards broke into the bathroom stall to forcibly escort the student out.
