Catholics believe the world is deprived, which means "suffering a severe and damaging lack of basic material and cultural benefits". We do not believe it is depraved, "morally corrupt; wicked". This means we believe the world is full of sin, but people have love in their hearts. Just because we are affected by sin, it does not mean we are wicked.

In the LOTR we see Aragorn as a symbol of the kingly ministry. He leads people to fight for what is right, just as we are to lead people towards God. Frodo symbolizes the priestly ministry, because he shows others how to act, just as we are to show people how to act in accordance with God. Lastly we see Gandalf symbolizing the prophetic ministry. He does this by teaching others how to act and by preaching, just as we are supposed to teach others about God.

There are many differences between the Lembas Bread and the Eucharist. The Eucharist is changed from ordinary bread into the Body of Christy a priest or minister, while that change is not evident with the Lembas Bread. The Eucharist also affects Catholics by uniting us with the Church and God. The Lembas did not unite any of the people eating it with God. The Lembas is still considered to be sacramental because it has a tangible and intanigble sense.
