This article is about believing in helping children become more involved in their school. It is said that children in school don't have "real friends." I believe this is sad and should be resolved. The article states that "video games are stimulating the brains and keeping them vulnerable to academic challenges." The 3 points I agree are that kids need to adapt to school and make new friends, they also need to become more mature when it comes to managing their time. My last point is that video games indeed are destroying kids' brains. This is changing how kids think and they are addicting. This all starts with the parents though. The parents of a kid need to stop letting their children play video games whenever they want. This doesn't mean take them away but this means that they need to focus on school, sports, goals, and staying fit more than playing on mind-controlling games. The 3 points I disagree with are that video games replaced outdoors, the brain gets truly affected by video games, and that you can make a difference in your child's life by changing his brain. I don't believe these are true because a child will be a child. You can't change him once he has started and addicted to what he is into. This article refers to me because I do enjoy video games and sometimes don't enjoy school but I am not addicted. I can easily stop video games and do my homework without worrying who is online and what games they are playing.

Children are getting bored easily in school and people are trying to stop that. They are trying to make school fun and enjoyable for the children. Victoria Prooday talks and provides many examples. Such as when she states “When kids come to the classroom, they are exposed to human voices and adequate visual stimulation as opposed to being bombarded with the graphic explosions and special effects that they are used to seeing on the screens.” The article states that video games are distracting to the children and making them academically vulnerable.
3 points I agree with are the children become too dependent and be able to delay gratification means to be able to function under stress. The children are slowly becoming less equipped to deal with even minor stress, which eventually become huge obstacles to their life. How when kids are bored they eat, and how kids are obsessed with technology and they are dependent on it.

Those kids should have to work for what they want and not just get it when they want it. I feel that parents should reward there kids with what they want. I feel that even though parents work hard too, so do kids and they should be able too rest when they want too.

This article is about children who get bored easily because they aren't getting what they want when they want. They use their phones too much and do whatever they want without getting punished for it. They prefer to stay inside and talk with their friends than actually going outside and meeting with them. The 3 points I agree with is that people need to make new friends in school, they need to be realize that they wont get everything they want when they want, and they need to see that their parents wont do everything for them. The 3 points I disagree with is that video games made people stop wanting to go outside. Kids still want to go out and see their friends. It also says that kids get what they want, when they want. Some parents dont let their kid get everything they want, and finally, it says that kids will stay up all night if they can, I think that is wrong because they will get tired eventually. This refers to me because the writer is referring to my age group and my lack of interest in school is because I won't use half of the things I learn.

Also Victoria Prooday says that children are unable to make real relationships with people because all they know is typing to people and they are unable to keep a real conversation because when they see a face in front of them then they freeze. For example I knew people that were heavy video game players and had a community of friends that they spoke too online and when they are in real life talking to other people is very hard for them.

This article discusses the reasons why children are bored at school from the standpoint of a therapist. Victoria Prooday, the writer of this article, believes that children are lacking social skills not cleaning up their toys, and are not getting the nutrition and sleep necessary for a healthy life. I completely agree that children should be able to clean up their toys, make their bed, use proper manners, and be patient. These skills are necessary in life along with great social skills. However I strongly disagree with the statement that technology prevents children from developing social skills. My experience with technology and video games is quite the opposite. Video games allows the child to meet new people from all over the world. Video games have complex puzzles that the player has to solve. The player is often trying to solve these problems with a group of other players. This forces the players to communicate to each other and work together to solve the problem. I communicate to complete strangers though microphones. Players have the ability to hear everyone else's voice as if they were on a phone call. Prooday states that technology limits outdoor time. While you do play video games indoors, I have had no problems stopping my game and going outside. I enjoy biking and other outdoor activities. If we want children to enjoy school, we should have more fun activities to make children want to learn. Children are forced into school. They sit for nearly 8 hours listening to an adult talk without any fun and intriguing activities to make them want to learn. If we want our children to enjoy learning, we should make it as entertaining as possible.

As technology progresses advancements are made including child care, or in other words distracting children with over-stimulation. This article goes over the views of a therapist for ten years and her interacting with children dealing with social, learning, or communication issues. When I younger and developing my mind, I was not allowed to play with video games and could only watch television for a limited amount of time. By not allowing adolescents constant stimulation, it teaches them patience, a skill many developing students have a lack of. Although I enjoy watching netflix or texting my friends I am able to put away my phone without social anxiety. Certain disorders or phobias have been linked to a reliance on technology. With children being constantly entertained they lack a skill of self-control which is a major factor in how far they will progress in life. Communication with one’s children is great way of improving their communication skills in real life. I personally do get bored a school sometimes because the curriculum is not challenging or the teachers go over the directions for too long, however, my skills of patience allow me to not be anxious.

The article partially blames parents for being too lenient with their kids and not being involved enough in their child's life. I agree with the fact that children today get things the moment they want. I agree with how most parents are controlled by how their child acts or feels. Finally, I agree with the fact that patience needs to be taught to kids and how to have “boring hour.” In the article I disagree with the limited social skills of children and how they don’t have social skills because most children on the street will wave at you or say hello. I also disagree with technology affecting the children because they can learn many new and exciting things with the help of technology. This article applies to me because I do feel boredom and the want to not go to school, and many times I do feel like I get spoiled. In conclusion this was a good article and I enjoyed it thoroughly. :)

This article is about an occupational therapist talking about how children behave at school and other areas, she has topics such as technology, their patience, and so on and at the end, has solutions to those problems. 3 points that I agree with are; children having the ‘last word’ when it goes to what they want. Whenever a child demands something, some parents decide to go with what they want and don’t say ‘no’ or tell them to wait and be patient, this is a problem because it will make the child think that they can do what they want and that what they say is final, which is ultimately false. The second point is how children are more dependant on technology for entertainment and go out less to play, socialize, and so on. Children refuse to go outside and/or are distracted by other factors indoors. I only agree with two points. 3 points that I disagree with are; technology being one of the main issues, I disagree with this, as a person who plays video games and programs, what you do and how you manage it will decide whether you will get positive or negative effects from it, the same goes to other things as well. And when it goes to children, parents have to assist them in managing and show them what is right and wrong. I only disagree with one point. I am neutral with the rest, they can be right and wrong depending on the situation.

Today in America too many children are consumed by their electron devices and are deprived of social skills and time with their families. I believe she was correct on her points about how children have limited social interaction, from personal experience i know that kids think they are entitled to everything they want, and they think the world is all fun and games. I do not agree with Victoria's points about how children should begin doing tasks to stimulate their brains, the parents should allow their children to use their gadgets while waiting for a table at a restaurant but not at the table, finally I do not believe parents would allow their children to play outdoors like they did before electronics. I do believe I would be a different person if I did not have electronics in my life.

Hannah Furshman

This article is mainly about many of the habits that kids do nowadays that set them back in everyday activities. It lists many specific areas that parents should be aware of as well as the ways the situation can be prevented. I agree that families should bond in ways such as dinner or family game nights. I also agree in teaching kids proper social skills like saying please and thank you. Also, it is necessary to be spending time outdoors. Three things I don’t agree with completely is converting things kids don’t like into fun games all the time because not everything in life is going to be fun. I also don’t agree with the fact that technology is always the problem. Finally, I don’t agree with the fact that you should always schedule a meal time because in the real world it isn’t always a schedule. I think that this article does relate to me because my parents have used many, if not all, of these skills while parenting. Even the parents does not notice how they are treating their kids and then they wonder why their child is not doing what they ask or why they act a certain way. One of the points that I agree with is parent education, the parents have to understand they can not do certain things like giving them what they want. Another point I agree with is the technology that the parents give to their children. “The inability to process lower levels of stimulation leaves kids vulnerable to academic challenges. Technology also disconnects us emotionally from our children and our families. “ The final point is when the kids get what they want. Little do the parents know is that they are spoiling their child. The points that I don’t agree with is Endless fun, train delayed gratification, and kids rule the world. Some facts in this article apply to me because sometimes I do not do what my parents tell me right away.

The article is lazy and unimaginative. It forces a link that computers are corrupting our youth when really it is the the government putting chem trails in the sky and putting chemicals like fluoride in the water. The author provides no evidence then she is an allegedly qualified individual from a college that is Liberal and run by a shadow government. I agree that kids are getting more stupid, unsocial, and needy, but the reasons for this is that the government is putting chemicals in the water turning us and our food sources more homosexual or feminine, and dropping chemicals on us to turn us into socialist zombies that will work in endless factory lines and have so called college education. Her claim that the claim that our children our needing more and more is completely true, but only for the time being. Once the communist elite’s plan is completed billions will starve.

The article shows that because of the technology that we have today, kids are never bored.

That’s not to say that school is extremely fun and everyone should love going to it, but dreading it and hating everything about it is a little extreme. Kids should experience boredom at some point, not everything in life is fun and you can’t use technology forever. There are gonna be days when you’re older and you won’t be able to play games on Xbox or PS4. There are gonna be days when you are gonna have to be an adult and do adult things and that’s what school does, it gets you prepared for things later on in life.

This article breaks down the reasons for why children are “emotionally unavailable” for learning and how we can fix the problem. This article gave us 5 reasons as to why kids are emotionally unavailable for learning they are, technology, kids getting everything they want when they want it, kids rule the world (parents giving them what they want even if they know it is not good for them), endless fun, and limited social interaction. As we all know parents are busy and instead of entertaining their kids or allowing them to be bored they give them digital gadgets to keep them busy. The five ways they gave us to fix this problem is to limit technology and reconnect with your children emotionally, train delayed gratification, don’t be afraid to set limits because kids need limits to grow happy and healthy, teach your child to do monotonous work from early years as it is the foundation for future “workability”, and lastly teach them social skills. The article says that kids used to play outside and practice social skills, I agree with this because growing up I was outside playing all day and interacting with other kids, and now all you see is kids texting each other and not having face-to-face conversations. Also, I agree with this because children are not playing outside as much as they used to. Another thing I agree with from this article is when they tell us that parents are giving their kids what they want when they want it, and I see this with my aunt and her 2 kids, she gives them everything they ask for right away. Growing up my mom never gave me everything I wanted when I wanted it. On the other hand, although kids are using technology all the time, there are some benefits that go along with it because the world is using technology more and more, and there are many jobs that require you to use technology so, although I don’t agree with children always using technology it will benefit them in the future when they are looking for a job. In conclusion, I do not think this article pertains to me, I grew up playing outside all the time and interacting with others, I can in fact live without technology.
