         <title>Compare/Contrast Presidential Reconstruction VS Congressional Reconstruction</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>In Presidential Reconstruction</strong>, they didn't want to punish the South. They wanted to unite the country as soon as possible. The President wanted to pardon all of the white Southerners, except for Confederate leaders and wealthy planters. <strong>Presidential Reconstruction</strong> was much more lenient on the southerners than <strong>Congressional Reconstruction.</strong></div><ul><li>In <strong>Congressional Reconstruction</strong>, they were much more harsh on the Southerners. It was also referred to as<strong> Radical Reconstruction. </strong>They passed the <strong>13th and 14th Amendment</strong>. They ended the <strong>Freedmen's Bureau</strong>.</li><li>They both wanted to end slavery in the <strong>Southern States</strong>.They wanted to unite the country. They both made <strong>Southern States </strong>ban slavery and declare seceding illegal.</li><li>The <strong>13th Amendment </strong>abolished slavery and it protected the rights of newly freed people. </li><li>The <strong>14th Amendment </strong>granted citizenship to “all persons born or naturalized in the United States”</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>In the <strong>North</strong>, they had a larger population and more railroads for transportation. They were under the leadership of <strong>President Abraham Lincoln</strong>. The <strong>North</strong> believed that slavery should be ended and that tariffs were good.</li><li>In the <strong>South</strong>, they had a smaller population and had few railroads for transportation. They were under the leadership of <strong>General Robert E. Lee</strong>. The<strong> South</strong> believed that slavery was keeping their economy alive and that tariffs were unfair.</li><li>They both were fighting for what they believed in. They both agree that the war was started because of slavery.</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Born: June 8, 1814</li><li>Died: April 12, 1864</li><li>Green was clerk of the Texas Supreme Court until the outbreak of the Civil War. After the Civil War started, he became a Confederate Calvary Leader.</li><li>He was an American soldier and lawyer. He was a clerk of the Texas Supreme Court before the Civil War, where Green was elected Colonel of the Fifth Texas Volunteer Calvary.</li><li>He was originally at a “desk job”. He participated in several skirmishes against natives and accompanied <strong>General Alexander Somerville </strong>to Mexico in the ill-fated<strong> Somerville Expedition</strong>. </li></ul>]]></description>

         <title>Blind Lemon Jefferson</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Born: September 24, 1893</li><li>Died: December 19, 1929</li><li>He was one of the most popular blues singers of the 1920s in Texas and has been called the "<strong>Father of the Texas Blues</strong>".</li><li>Blind Lemon Jefferson was an American blues and gospel singer, songwriter, and musician. His best known songs are “<strong>Black Snake Moan”, “Matchbox Blue” </strong>and “<strong>See That My Grave Is Kept Clean”.  </strong>He is one of the earliest black folk-blues singers to achieve popular success.</li><li>Though he is thought to be born blind, several of his songs indicate that he lost his sight in childhood. He earned money as a novelty wrestler in 1912.  He worked in the streets and in brothels, saloons, and parties in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Virginia. </li></ul>]]></description>
