I support Issue 1 which will redraw the voting districts in Ohio to prevent gerrymandering. The best 'pro' of this issue is the process in which the bill proposes to fix the gerrymandering. The first step in this process is Ohio lawmakers redraw the 16 districts in Ohio and 60 percent must vote to approve the map along with at least half of the majority party. If this attempt to compromise fails, the map would be drawn and approved by a seven-member "commission [that] includes the governor, auditor, secretary of state and four lawmakers – two from each of the major political parties." If the commission fails, the process will go back to the lawmakers to try again. Finally, if that fails for a second time, the majority party can draw the lines without input from the minority party, however, there are strict rules that would be in place to prevent an abuse of power. Although this seems like a very difficult process, I like how through it is. A second 'pro' is that is deals with the current problem with gerrymandering which is currently unresolved in the state of Ohio. Although I believe that the last resort is not the most ideal, I believe that some plan to deal with gerrymandering is better than no plan at all. One 'con' is that parties could decide to divide up the districts where they would ensure that each party gets a certain number of districts which would swing towards them. This would not be real reform, however, this is no worse off that we are under the current system, therefore, I believe that it is worth a try to pass Issue 1 and attempt to solve the gerrymandering crisis facing our nation.

From the car loan activity and the credit score activity, I learned the importance of making calculated financial decisions. When I was doing the car loan activity, I learned that, at this point in my life, I am not ready to buy a car. I have no money saved for a car, all of it is being saved for college, therefore I have no money for a downpayment and would have to take a loan out to pay for all of it. I also don't have a steady income which would mean that it would be easy for me to be unable to meet my monthly payments. If I was unable to pay my monthly payment, I would get into debt and it would lower her credit score. In order to make sure that you have a good credit score for when you need to make an investment in your future (i.e. a car, morgage, or student loan), you must be responsible with how you spend your money and make sure that you don't accumulate debt. If you begin accumulating debt, it becomes hard to get out of the debt and it can become a vicious cycle of debt.

For these cornell notes, I focused my research on creating an eco-friendly and effective food garden in my backyard. Through the use of the book "Sufficient: A Modern Guide to Sustainable Living", I largely learned about propagation and compost use. Prior to reading this book, I had no idea what propagation was, however, now I know that propagation is the process of growing the plant from its seed. Through reading about propagation, I learned that seeds should only be feed sterilized compost (bought from the store) rather than homemade compost. However, once the seedling has been moved into the ground, it is now okay to use homemade compost on your crop. The author claims that all compost should still be heated before use in the garden, however, I have to confirm this with other sources. I must detirmine if compost must always be heated or only when animal products are added to the compost. Through this research, I also began to look at the crops that I want to grow in my garden, in order to detirmine which is the most economical and which is the one that is effective in reducing my carbon footprint.
