Guilt is represented because in the poem the man hears everything happening and he admits that to the policeman when he questions him. The man says he’s heard so many gunshots before he didn’t think anything of it. Regret is shown in the short story because the people that left didn’t do anything. I bet in all honestly they did want to do something but just didn’t have the nerve to say anything to someone about it.
