Description: This painting shows the soul of an idealistic sentiment towards Filipinos. Amorsolo, the artist behind this painting used various brushstrokes which provided a relaxing texture towards gazing the painting. These brushstrokes portray the relaxing scenes when Filipinos go to the market to but necessities such as food for the family or how Filipino enjoy and relax by idling during the afternoon under the shade of trees. The painting provides a rural simplicity and has its own charm which makes it really impactful for viewers. One of the noticeable features of the artwork is how it shows how the Filipino nature tends to be more in the happy side as seen in the painting everybody is smiling while they do their own work.

Date: 1942
Material: Oil on Canvas
Culture: Historical
Credits:
https://cdn.tatlerasia.com/asiatatler/i/ph/2020/02/20154243-amorsolo-harvest-scene-1942_cover_2000x1091.jpg

Description: This painting portrays filipino women that defy the stereotyping such as high cheekbones, slanted eyes and morena skin. This painting shows the appreciation of the artist towards the hardworking Filipino women. The artists also aims to spread awareness towards other people to be more appreciative towards women and to treat them respect because we are all equal human beings. The painting somewhat inspires me as the expressions of the characters portray happiness, diligence and just the simplicity of living in joy. This painting reminds me on the strength, quiet dignity and hardworking personality of Filipino women.

Date: 1979
Material: Oil on Canvas
Culture: Historical
Credits:
https://cdn.tatlerasia.com/asiatatler/i/ph/2020/02/20154243-20170905135103-anitamagsaysay-ho-womenamidstbananas-resized-773x605-7_cover_773x605.jpg

Description: Ang Kiukoks artworks usually resemble a strong and emotional type of artwork. The artworks may portray a sombre or angry expression because of how the raw the painting may be. The scene of what the aforementioned artwork provides shows the struggles of crucifixions by using vivid colors and a cubist style of painting. I see the artwork as a form of self - expression and a way of social commentary

Date: 1996
Material: Oil on Canvas
Culture: Historical and Religion
Credits:
https://cdn.tatlerasia.com/asiatatler/i/ph/2020/02/20154243-29175530-angkiukok-resized-1597x2000_cover_1597x2000.jpg

Description: Personally Jose Joya is one of my favorite iconic Filipino Painters as his paintings are open to personal interpretation. This specific artwork is special since Jose Joya is known for his bright colored paintings through a cubist styled of painting. His artworks aim to portray a wide range of subjects, styles and mediums. For example, I portray this artwork as a lifestyle of my provincial background. The painting gives off a relaxed nature of how my provincial life was. Having a provincial life near the sea resembles on how I would feel the highly breeze which feels like the whispers of the sea. Susurro Del Mar directly translates to Whispers of the Sea.

Date: 1961
Material: Oil on Wood
Culture: Historical
Credits:
https://cdn.tatlerasia.com/asiatatler/i/ph/2020/02/20154243-jose-joyas-22susurro-del-mar22-whisper-of-the-sea-1961-joya_cover_1999x1500.jpg

Description: This artwork portrays the daily routine of a modern life of a Filipino man. The painting also expresses movement inside the painting through the style and different strokes the artist used. Vicente Manansala used a technique wherein he was inserting multiple layers which included different shapes and colors. Through this technique movement can be seen throughout the painting and it portrays how far the depth of the artwork is. The artwork may show a 2-d feel at first but upon further observation a three- dimensional depth will be seen which makes the painting very intriguing.

Date: 1976
Material: Oil on Canvas
Culture: Historical
Credits:
https://uploads8.wikiart.org/images/vicente-manansala/the-bird-seller-1976.jpg
