I learned a lot in senior fammily medicine especially when I was attached in KK Seri Kembangan. I had learn how doctor consel the patient and manage emergency cases such as post ictal drowsiness and preterm prelabour delivery. Lot of interesting cases that we learned in kksk like guttate psoriasis, dog bites, kyphosis. In GP i not really learned much as i cannot clerk the patient and there was not much interesting cases. Most if the patient coming for physical check up and fomema.
Thank you Dr Hani

In my opinion, I think we should have gp attachment longer. The exposure is too short compared with kk attachment because we have already went to kk in 3rd year as well. It was a really awesome experience posted at gp and I can learn different thing and have widen view. For klinik salak, there are more specialists dr who willing to bring us, more teaching and I learned a lot at there.

Thank you for the posting arrangement, I enjoyed it a lot. Now I know there are actually a lot of dilemmas in primary care's everyday practice. However, actually we students should maximize our learning opportunities. There are still a lot of things that I think we had not learned enough from this posting, e.g. in deciding on when to increase dosage, when to refer patients. Are there any ways that could help us improve?

Another thing to add on, in my opinion, it would be good if precepting can be standardized just like other clinical exams - e.g. having a fixed format and time slot for clerking, PE, Viva / consultation session - so that students will take it more seriously and prepare harder for it. I understand that different examination methods could also assess our skills in diff aspects, but what I observed was, if the assessments are not 'formal' enough, a lot of students will take the assessment lightly, which is something that we students should not be doing....Btw, I like the precepting session. Our FMS lecturer pointed out directly our strength and weaknesses effectively, and gave advice on how we should improve on.

Good note here, I think I am now more confident in terms of seeing patients and providing consultation in a primary care setting. I can appreciate the joy of managing patients in a primary care setting. Besides, this posting had made me realised that there are still a lot of basic clinical medical knowledge and skills that I am short of. These 4 weeks in family medicine had triggered me to recall and fine tune the knowledge and skills that had been taught throughout the past few postings.

Thank you to my lovely sea park GP doctor, KKSP staff and our kind fammed lecturers!
