Freindship is important as the low cuts support each other. The low cuts steal or con people out of money for good purposes. "She leads Bit, Francy, and John John toward the truck at a run, screaming for it to stop."(p.100)

Simeon and Kenzi have fun together. Simeon carries Kenzi on his back so he does not get bumped into.

"Simeon squats so Kenzi can leap onto his back. Then, they’re off." The crowds part as Simeon runs with Kenzi.

(p.100)

TJ carries Jasmin's backpack because she has sickle cell anemia.

"TJ showed up to break the ice and leave some friendship flags next to her bed."(p.8)

The low cuts are 4 kids that have something in common, they all are from families whose parents have cancer. They are troublesome, sometimes bullies but loyal to each other. They steal, but for a good reason. Their families have huge medical bills. At the opening of the story they seem bad but by the end you see that they are very compassionate.

"They watched Bit transform from a hustler into a scared son who loves his mom."

Some things that Jason Reynlds used are imagery and symbolism. "Her entire body felt like it was on fire." This can help the reader understand it better because symbolism and imagery puts a picture in the reader's mind.

We get to see different perspectives. The short stories all had the same theme of friendship. The kids banned together and helped and supported each other.

Friendship is really important because it is important to have someone to talk to and someone to support you or someone to have fun with. I have a summer friend like this. We have a lot in common and we support each other and have fun all summer. When fall comes we no longer see each other, but talk to each other by text. Our friendship has been strong for many years. I would do anything to help her.
