Write for about one paragraph and give at least TWO reasons (with examples) for why you decided that section is most important to Canadians.
Ans: I think section three, Democratic rights is the most important section of the Charter, at the very heart of Democracy, are Democratic rights, the show how rules are set in place to keep THE PEOPLE over everything, THIS INCLUDES THE RIGHT TO VOTE IN ELECTIONS, having this is the main reason why we get the democratic experience, we get the key to every democratic decision, with this right protected, it makes even more powerful, IT ALSO ALLOWS US TO RUN AS A CANDIDATE IN ELECTION, this empowers us to bring out opinions, emotions and beliefs that otherwise would have never been known, this also gives us a broad selection of who thinks is capable for “that” position, it’s great the Canadian government has created a means so our rights don’t get trampled on, thanks to the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms.

I think number 9 is the most important section. Number 9 is enforcement. It states that you can “take matter to court should any of the above rights or freedoms be denied”. I think this because if you could not go to court then how would you know it was true or not, how would they know if you actually did it or if someone just made it up. Another reason would be that if someone did something to you what you do about it? Nothing, you could not do a thing about it. What would be the point on even having the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms if you could not do anything about it? That’s why I think number 9 is the most important.

In my opinion, I think the equality rights are the most important above every other section for 2 reasons:

1. In a way, the charter of rights of freedom is based on this section because the goal of the charter is to distribute rights and freedoms equally to every citizen If the section didn’t exist and someone has more rights than others, the whole charter has lost its meaning.

2. Because of Canada’s diverse immigration origins, some immigrants do come from countries where the mainstream culture is sexist or racist. Since they are in Canada and became a Canadian citizen, this section tells them that they now have to follow Canada’s rules of treating everyone equally regardless of their colour, gender, or race. We still respect their right to practice their culture, but yet we have the right to disagree with their culture.

This section is the foundation of our free and equal society, giving everyone a voice, no matter what you look like, where you come from, or what you believe in. If that isn’t the most Canadian thing, then I don’t know what is. These rules allow you to speak and express your own personal ideas and perspective, helping others gain a larger understanding of the world. The freedom of speech, and freedom of religion are what make us a mosaic as opposed to a melting pot, each piece as important as the next.

Of course, I know of the darker side to freedom of speech, the hate groups and racists who can spread their ideas, and congregate like roaches. But we all must take the good with the bad, you can’t burn down the apple tree just because one apple is rotten. To be more specific, you can’t conscientiously draw the line on what can be allowed, and what can’t, since morality can’t be measured. Even though giving these people the same rights seems counter-productive, feeding their fire and letting it grow, we must let them enjoy the same freedoms as us, since they are law-abiding Canadian citizens, and taking away their fundamental freedoms, will only make them martyrs.

Personally, I think section 3 Democratic Rights is the most important. One reason is because you can vote for the next prime minister who is going to be in charge of Canada. So, for example if you never liked your current prime minister you can vote for a new prime minister who is going to be a better leader for your country. Second, if you don’t like your mayor, you can run for mayor and kick your current mayor out of City Hall. Thirdly, Canada would never have a dictator because we have elections every 4-5 years, unless if Canada is participating in a war then you would have to wait until the war is done to vote for your next prime minister. Lastly, another reason voting is important is because you can vote at a young age, so when you turn 18 you have a voice when your talking. That’s why I think Democratic Rights is important.

Tofunmi Out of the ten rights which is the most important to you. The most important to me is the equality rights because it gives me the right to live and work, being protected by law regardless of race, religion, nationality or ethnic origin, colour ex age, mental or physical ability be treated as equal before and under the law. This is very important to me especially as an immigrant because I wasn’t born here but they still chose to give me the same rights as if I was born here. This is great and unbelievable. Where I am from even as a citizen certain group of people are usually discriminated e.g. The poor, the disabled, people with different religions are not treated equal with everybody else and I find this very wrong but coming here in Canada means I can live and work regardless of my colour and the face that is wasn’t born here. I think other countries should try to imitate this to make the world a better place.

Tarren: My opinion on the most important right in the Canadian charter of rights I think that number one is the most important because if you cant live in a democratic country and cant be a free citizen you cannot vote and the rest of the rights no longer have to be there and you cannot really do most of the other rights if you are not living in a democratic country and the government laws can be whatever the person in power wishes the laws to be you will not longer be a free citizen.

1.	It is important because if you have family that lives in other countries you should be able to leave and see them. If a family member is injured or dying and they live in another country, it should be a right to see them legally.

2.	Another reason it is important is because if you aren’t happy and you aren’t being treated as you want you should be able to leave so you can live a better and happy life the way you want.

At the same time I can go back to Canada to be with my family and friends who lives in Canada. Also I can travel outside of Canada if I want to unlike in North Korea where you can’t leave.

My second reason is that if I want to move somewhere else in Canada which I am planning to then I can. Because its everything your given as a human being in terms, u have to protect it. it is means I am free to live my life the way I want, and I'm free to think what I want. The equality rights provided to everyone in Canada defines us as a nation. No matter which side you stand on this issue, one thing is clear - everyone has equal right. And once these are gone, no free like a “slavery”,no right we must fight for fair although it can’t be successful. everyone want freedom, no one wants to live under control.

In things like religions and worshipping people should be free to have their opinion in who and what they believe in. People should also be able to express their feelings openly without fear of getting in trouble or something happening to them. Lastly I think that no matter what race, culture, society someone is or from, they should be free to talk, meet, etc. with any person of a different race, culture, society of there own choice. Which Is why I feel strongly about section two in the charter of rights.

Maya GuretskiSection two is most important in my opinion. I feel this way because this section allows you to believe in whatever you want, and express you opinions openly, without fear. This is important because I can freely talk about almost anything with my family/friends, and I won’t get in trouble. For example, I don’t have to worry about being judged or punished for talking about my traditions in public with my family. I also think section two is most important because it states that I have the right to associate with anybody I want, which means that I won’t be judged or punished for being friends with someone from a different country, with different beliefs, or someone who has a different nationality, and to me that is very important. Section two allows me to be with whomever I

Equality Rights. Jan 12 2017 In my opinion Equality rights is very important to everyone. The reason why Equality Rights is important because since Canada is accepting more and more immigrants and a lot of other people come to Canada for living. Canada makes sure that they all get the same rights and freedoms as a normal Canadian citizen would. The beautiful thing about Canada and the charter of rights and freedoms are that whoever comes to Canada they know and they can feel that they are safe. They can go to the hospital and not have to pay for it. They can become a Canadian citizen if they wanted to. They can work and they can go to school. They can have their own rights. Nobody can discriminate them. Even the police can’t have full control over them. The reason why Pierre Trudeau created Charter of Rights and Freedoms is because he wanted everyone to have their rights, their freedoms, and for everyone to be equal.

I believe that the most important section of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is the sixth section “Equality Rights”. I think that this is the most important section because it states that no mater where you come from, your religion, your gender, your age etc., you will be seen as “equal before and under the law”. Which is important because it helps stop racism and discrimination in our justice system which is important because it’s wrong to judge someone on the way they look or other factors out of their control. Another example of why section six is the most important section in my view is that no employer can simply fire you because of these reasons. Which is important because as long as the job is being done will it does not matter if it’s being done by a man or women, someone born in Canada or an immigrate, therefore it’s good to have this section to prevent a employer from firing only because of these reasons. Those two reason are why I believe that section six “Equal Rights” is so important.

For me, I think the most important section is the fundamental freedoms. The reason is because this section guarantees citizens freedom to follow their own beliefs and opinions. If this section isn’t on the charter of rights and freedoms, Canada wouldn’t be a multicultural country, which is important because multiculturalism help this country in many ways. One example is that it helps the economy because skilled workers from around the world come to this country for better jobs. If they aren’t allowed to worship based on their culture, then the possibility of them coming here would be low. Another reason I think this section is important is because they also promised citizens peace between people and that we can interact with whoever we want. That also may slowly take away the racism that occurs at times, which will make Canada an even better place. Without this section, people will not get along and the country won’t prosper because of that.

Also, people should have the right to be peaceful and have freedom. You should have the freedom to be who you want, think what you’d like and speak your mind. I also think this is the most important because I have the freedom to eat tradition foods at lunch or wear traditional clothes without getting punished. Without this right, folklorama wouldn’t be a thing and I wouldn’t be able to enjoy learning new cultures and their traditions or get to enjoy my own culture. And that is why I think the Fundamentals rights are the most important out of The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

My other reason is that the charter of rights allowed me to have the rights to live and work, educate, being protected by law regardless of race, religion, nationality or ethnic origin, color ex age, mental or physical ability be treated as equal before and under the law I think all of the is important to me especially when I immigrant to Canada I didn’t know some of the things and if I didn’t had those rights I won’t be able to be educate or my family won’t able to work or live in Canada. Sometimes people don’t treated people equally to one another because they think they have more rights than the other people but that is not true. I think the Canadian charter of right and freedom is all about equally rights and freedom whether their Canadian citizen or an immigrant from different country.
