Sherman's march was an army that consisted of 60,000 men for the sole purpose of scaring Georgia's civilians to convert to the union. Sherman's army took over savannah and continued their journey towards the Carolinas. The capital received a crumbling economy after the sea blockades so they had to find an alternative but were stopped by sherman's army.

This place is very historical because it was the final battle of the civil war. General Robert. E realized that the confederate army was spread too thin and couldn't break through the Union lines. So he surrendered to prevent more destruction towards the south.
