I think feedback is extremely important and empowers the students to feel a part of the evaluation of their own education. However, what then happens with their feedback and the interpretation their tutor may have is out of their control.

I would suggest anonymous feedback, that the tutor then collates and uses to have open dialogue with the students. Discussing what has gone well, but also how things could be better in the future. This helps the students understand that the relationship is about exchange and responsibility. It also means the teacher can really take in the positive feedback but not shy away from possible improvements. This process also encourages the students to be more constructive with their feedback.

From Stephanie's case study it seems the relationship between herself and her fellow lecturer got in the way of her offering an honest critique of their delivery. This throws up questions about impartiality and bias related to peer reviews.

There are also issues around students feeling comfortable giving honest feedback.
