Before school life was hard for Auggie, he had a couple of friends but did not fit in anywhere. Everyone thought he was a freak. Then he goes to school and he begins to fit in and make more friends. In the end he has a lot of friends and fits in just like another kid walking down the block.

In this book August or Auggie was born deformed. He had a lot of surgeries when he was little to make his face look a little better. When he starts school mostly everyone is mean or acts like he is not there. Throughout the book he gains and loses friends.

The passages that create the best pictures to me are the ones that describe the character and the events very well. For example on page 77 Julian and a couple of his friends are making fun of Auggie and are describing what he looks like. Another example is on page 265 to 267. A couple of older kids start a fight with Jack, Auggie, Amos, Miles, and Henry.

The conclusion I am drawing about the book is that school changed Auggie's life in both good and bad ways. A good example is that he got a better education and got new friends that were actually close to him. A bad example is that people make fun of him and start the plague. The plague is played like this. If you get touched by Auggie you have the plague.
