Elias Howe was born on July 9, 1819, in Spencer, Massachusetts. Howe was born with a disability that left him weak in one arm. Howe went to court to ensure he was provided royalties for his invention. The court ruled in Howe's favor in 1856 and he earned the millions on his invention he had envisioned.

Henry Bessemer was born on January 9, 1813 in Hertfordshire, England. His father, Anthony Bessemer, was also an inventor, as well as a printer and typesetter, and he gave Henry a love of working with metal. At the age of 17, Henry Bessemer relocated to London, where he began to pursue a career as an inventor. Many important inventions are answers to specific problems, and Henry's first one was no different.Although Henry Bessemer received more than 100 patents during his lifetime, his most famous invention was the Bessemer Process, which created a new way of manufacturing steel.

In 1848, the Carnegie family moved to America in search of better economic opportunities and settled in Allegheny City (now part of Pittsburgh), Pennsylvania.

In 1850 he became a conductor on the New York and new haven railroad, but a few years later he had to retire for health reasons. In 1857, while living in New Haven, Connecticut, Drake met stockholders of the Pennsylvania Rock Oil Company, which claimed a lease on land near Pennsylvania, where oil had been gathered from ground-level seepage for medicinal uses.

He also founded the American Telephone and Telegraph Company in 1885. While not the best student, Bell had an uncanny talent for problem solving. At 12 years old, he invented a farming device for his friend’s father that quickly and efficiently removed the husks from wheat grain. After being home schooled and attending private school for a year, Bell went on to the Royal High School at Edinburgh but eventually dropped out because he didn’t enjoy the mandatory curriculum.
