"To the front, an acacia tree, the thorn tree which dots the wide edges of the Kalahari; the great white thorns, a warning; the olive-grey leaves, by contrast, so delicate. In its branches, in the late afternoon, or in the cool of the early morning, one might see a Go-Away Bird, or hear it, rather. And beyond the acacia, over the dusty road, the roofs of the town under a cover of trees and scrub bush; on the horizon, in a blue shimmer of heat, the hills, like improbable, overgrown termite-mounds".

The story is everyday like - realism

The hardcore crime in this crime story is non existent.

For instance in the story we follow Mma Ramotswe solve the identity theft of Happy bapetsi's father.

Deduction:

In the movie we follow Mma Ramotswe solving the crime of the two dentists.

Similar to other detectives in stories, Mma Ramotswe uses a 6th sense to investigate a case.

As you can see in the following quote Mma Ramotswe is very observant.

"She also had few worries – this was shown by the fact that there were no lines on
her face, other than smile lines of course."

She also mentions how her feelings plays big part in her investigation(seen in the movie).
