For our alternate ending we think that Percy would have chosen to stay at camp the rest of the year instead of going back home. During the very beginning of the book we saw him get attacked by furies in the museum on his class field trip. This seemed to frighten Percy and make him realize that he need help if he's going to be safe. We also see that at the end of the book Percy is told that the Titan Kronos is back and he gets betrayed by Luke and almost dies. We think that these revelations of how dangerous the world actually is to demigods would make Percy change his mind and decide to stay at Camp Half-Blood for protection. This decision would not only mean safety for Percy but also safety for his mother since the monsters would not be able to find her if Percy wasn't around.
