The Barbizon School - Camille Corot, Jean-François Millet, and Charles-François Daubigny

The Barbizon school was a French school of painting named after the village of Barbizon, located near the Forest of Fontainebleau. The school was active from 1830 to 1870, and was derived from Romanticist and Naturalist ideals of painting. The most common subjects are pastoral landscapes and forests, due to the proximity of these artists to the forest and their choice to live and work in small towns, on houseboats, and otherwise closer to nature.

I'm interested in landscapes, yes - specifically northern France, the Netherlands, and Germany. This would represent a place in Germany where I have been. This reminds me pleasantly of my childhood, a kind of idyllic, agricultural landscape with small towns, cold sea, and wind-flattened sea grass on purple dunes. It brings a certain smell to mind as well, ocean mixed with washed-up seaweed.
