I received my Associate's Degree from Santa Fe College in 2017. At that time, I had a young daughter and needed just enough college education to land a decent job to support my family. Now that I have two children and a husband with expensive hobbies... a "decent" job isn't ideal. I reenrolled in the BAS-IST program with hopes of graduating to receive a better salary.

2. Where are you from?
I am from Hawthorne, Florida.

3. What do you hope to take away from this class?
Although I am currently not a manager, I am excited to learn more about management skills. I hope to learn more about leadership. Most managers know how to be a boss. There is a big difference between a boss and a leader. I plan to share and use the knowledge I learn in this class with my current office.

4. What are your future goals?

Graduate with my BAS-IT degree.
Make more money.
Prepare my children for the future, and hope they one day make a positive impact on society.

5. What job are you seeking?
I like my current job but, it would be nice to move up into management one day. My "dream" job is to one-day train people how to use technology. Whether it's training basic computer skills or specific software within a company, I'd enjoy sharing knowledge with anyone.

I began working in corrections and decided that it wasn't an environment that I vibed with. I couldn't think of any other crim-related career paths that would be much different than corrections. Finally, I reviewed the programs here and decided to try coding. This is my true career path :). Stopping at an AS just isn't enough. I could never satiate my appetite for tech knowledge. Naturally, I continued my learning by entering the BAS program.

I am from Coral Springs, FL. Basically, Fort Lauderdale, for everyone unfamiliar with South Florida haha.

I've been given the opportunity to Intern at GRU and I notice that the department that I work in uses SQL a lot, so I hope to get a deeper understanding of working with data so that I could use this understanding and apply it to real data.

I would like to make enough money, work in field that I love, so that I can focus on what's important in life; which is the quality of my time in my present moments.

I want to work in a field where I'm mostly coding. I want to mostly work with backend code as opposed to UI.
I also see now that working with data may also be a point of interest.

I enjoy finding different recipes and cooking. This new hobby actually came about through my body journey. I've been wanting to gain size for a while now and I realized that my relationship with food had to change in combination with my weight-lifting so that I can bring about change.

I decided to enroll in the BAS-IST program because I want to learn as much as possible about programming. I really enjoy figuring out problems and there is always something to learn in technology. I also believe a BAS opens the door to a lot of job opportunities.

I am from Elizabeth, CO. It is a small town just south of Denver. We just moved about four years ago, so I still get homesick because I grew up there and have a lot of memories. The biggest thing I miss is the fall/snow!

3. What do you hope to take away from this class?

One day I would like to potentially be a leader/manager in an IT setting, so I would like how to manage in an IT setting. There are a lot of things to think about in an IT setting compared to a regular business setting, so I'm looking forward to more specialized training towards IT. I'm hoping to learn the skills to be a kind but effective leader.

I chose the IST Programming track to further my understanding for programming, among other reasons. Being someone who dropped out of grade school, I have become someone with a lot of conviction when it comes to going to school and getting a proper education. My plan is to not stop with my BAS and to keep going. I also want to become a better programmer and the IST Programming track has a lot of very good resources to help me get closer to that goal.

2. Where are you from?
I was born in Norfolk VA, but I have been in Florida for just over 2 decades now.

3.. What do you hope to take away from this class?
To learn something new. To become a more knowledgeable person.

4. What are your future goals?
My future goals are to obtain a masters degree in computer sciences, then obtain a teaching degree while working in my field.

5. What job are you seeking?
I don't have any particular position in mind, but being a developer that handles works with databases seems to be a pretty normal thing to do.

6. What interests you? Hobbies?
I like to play video games, play instruments like guitar and piano, study, and spend time at the gym when it is allowed without COVID.

I have always had a knack and interest in computer based technology. Having spent a majority of my career working in retail, I decided that it was time to do something I found more intellectually stimulating. The fact that the demand for IT professionals, especially in Security related fields, is constantly increasing along with the respective pay doesn't hurt either.

2. Where are you from?

I was born in Gainesville and spent my formative years moving all around the state of Florida. I've spent several years of my adult life either living or working in Gainesville and was very happy there. Unfortunately, I have spent the last decade living in the Ocala/Ocala National Forest area. I am not a fan.

3. What do you hope to take away from this class?

I have quite a bit of management experience from my previous career and have always been learning more about information systems every day. I hope to learn to combine these fields like chocolate and peanut butter.

4. What are your future goals?

I hope to expand my knowledge base, get more hands on experience, and gain the certifications to match.

5. What job are you seeking?

Something in the Security field.

6. What interests you? Hobbies?

I like games of all types including video games, card games, and tabletop and board games. I love to read and used to do a bit of writing though I haven't had the time for that in many years outside of school related activities. Anything that allows me to apply my creativity and problem solving skills is right up my alley.

After graduating with a business degree from UF, I decided not to pursue a career in that field and came back to Santa Fe for IT.

It seems like this class offers information from a variety of areas in IT. I'm looking forward to the section on Cybersecurity but hope to gain valuable information in every topic this course covers.

Planning on working remotely as a cybersecurity professional and traveling.

Penetration tester for both network and physical security.

I always gravitated to tech from an early age. After taking the pre-reqs for business admin and being declined I decided to do something I was more interested in. Since then I have been doing the security degree track and started my IT career as well.

2. Where are you from?

I am from Boca Raton, FL. However, I have been in Gainesville for going on 10 years and have been coming here since I was a child. I always thought of it as my second home.

3. What do you hope to take away from this class?

I hope to take away anything that will help give me an edge in my new job (managed services). I am also interested in any security practices I can take away form this class.

4. What are your future goals?

My future goals are to finish my security degree, get some additional security certifications like my CCNA and Security+ and get a job that allows me to interact with people while doing what I like.

5. What job are you seeking?

My ideal job would be policy making and client/employee education/awareness training.

I have quite a few interest. A few include gaming, modding my truck, hobby 3d-printing and modeling, computer building, and physical fitness.

I decided to enroll in the BAS-IST program because I hope it will help me in my chosen career. Becoming a video game developer is obviously a technology-intensive job, and unfortunately, I am very bad with technology.

2. I am from Gainesville, Florida. I've never lived anywhere else.

3. I'm hoping to come away with a better understanding of technology and how it works. In particular, I am interested in errors and what causes them; I run into strange errors and other issues with technology fairly often.

4. In the future, I hope to finish my degree, get a job with a video game company, and hopefully make some friends.

5. As stated earlier, I'm hoping to become a video game developer. I'd prefer to become a designer, but that requires many skills (effective communication with others, artistic ability, and being able to manage a team) that I do not possess.

6. Most of my interests revolve around video games; I love most genres, outside of rhythm, sports, and simulations, and even those have some exceptions. I also enjoy anime, reading, anything animated (there's so much you can do with animation that can't be pulled off with live action; it's so creative!), playing with my dogs (I have three; a toy poodle, a bichon frise, and a bulldog.) and animals in general.
