Taking time off to read a book with a vanilla scented candle beside me helps me de-stress. A massage at the spa also helps do the trick! But most of the time, it helps having someone to talk to (mostly my hubby or a good friend) about what's bothering me or how I can prioritize my to do list. We need to find the time for ourselves to re-energize. We all need a pause button once in a while. And sometimes, it doesn't hurt to reach out and ask others for help.

When I feel the need to de-stress, the first thing that I do is have a long conversation with my husband --- I share my strongest feelings and the details of the situation or task that stresses me out. I listen to what he has to say, and most of the time, what he says has the power to calm me down. If it’s a weeknight, we Netflix and chill after the conversation. If it’s a weekend, we go out and eat and drink (just like in the photo) :)

When I feel stressed or overwhelmed, I try to take a little "break". I do some exercise like yoga or any light exercise I can find online that I can follow, then take a warm shower afterwards, then have a nice meal. This really helps me declutter and organize my thoughts, and reframe my perspectives. I then discuss these things with my husband or close friends/family to get another person's perspective. When destressing, I'm not really looking for an escape, but a way to "recalibrate" in order to see things in a different, fresher way.

The way I manage stress depends on the magnitude of impact it may have. If these are short term ones or an accessory to my usual grind (just to spice things up I suppose haha), I lean on doing physical stuff such as yoga and meditation, marathoning series or movies, running, playing with my dogs, baking, or having a drink (or two!). These are the go-to breather activities that help me recharge. I couple it with chitchat with my confidants as this allows me to verbalize my emotions and my headspace. I find this most effective as it provides me with an 'outside looking in' perspective. If the stress is brought by many factors and has a larger scope of impact, I'll take days off where I would take my DND seriously. And interestingly enough, I'm always at the beach when I do this -- there's magic in the sand, sun, and water formula! These are the moments where I recenter and map out my next steps. Again, I partner it with conversations with my confidants to gain other insights or validate the way forward I have formulated.

I have different ways in managing my stress depending on how much time I can have for myself or the gravity of stress levels. I used to allot my 15-minute breaks at work to de-stress by smoking though I've eventually managed to break that habit. If I'm not working the night shift, I pour myself a drink or two (or more... LOL) as my night cap while I watch a movie or read a book. If I finish a big project then I make sure to schedule some time off from work to go to the beach or a mountain or out of the country. When I was living alone and can't go anywhere due to the restrictions, I de-stress by washing the dishes, I even let the dishes pile up just so that I'll have some reserves to wash when the need calls. But the currently best formula for me to de-stress is (1) playing with my three dogs even if they are also sometimes the source of my stress. (2) And to just stare at the sunset. It helps me let go of the day and rewire my brain. To get out of my head to whisper my woes to the world and breathe.

Best way for me to de-stress is to do physical activities with family and friends. When the weekend comes, I either have a round of golf scheduled with my friends or with my dad or a bike ride around metro manila or nearby provinces to breath fresh air and just look at nature with friends. It's a good thing too that my wife is also into these things and we get to bond over it. But since becoming parents, our bonding time has been playing with our daughter like taking to places where there is not much people. We used to travel a lot before the pandemic so now we watch a lot of shows that showcase food and travel and hope that we can bring our whole family on a trip in the near future.

I usually associate stress with losing control over a thing or a situation. Whenever I am faced with this predicament, I do the opposite. I find activities which I can control the pacing and outcome. For example, after a high-stressed meeting or exam, the immediate thing that I do is to wash the dishes or sweep the floor or any household activity. Household activities being a definitive task gives me control and closure. Another way of managing stress is, like Joyce, having a long conversation with my husband, complete with different voice intonations and actions. Lastly, since we adopted our dog last year, I find myself always hugging him after a stressful situation. I guess it is true that they can sense their human’s mood because whenever I am sad, he stays still and allows me to hug him. He is really active and stubborn but whenever I need comfort, he mellows down for me.

With our without our night classes, I limit my time spent at work until 6 to 7pm. 7 to 10PM is always my de-stress hours to spend time with my family and with myself. If I have work left to do, I resume after 10pm until midnight. I find that having window to recharge despite the busy day is effective for me.

I also try not to plan anything work or school-related during the weekends and make the most out of those two days de-stressing. Spending weekends out of the house, going to cafes up the mountains here in Bacolod, long drives, going to spa for massages/facials are my go-to activities to de-stress.

Although very unproductive and unhealthy - I would do all-nighter to catch up on any Netflix movie/series. This is my revenge bedtime procrastination after a very very very stressful week.

I have many ways to de-stress. I love to chill with my husband and son by just watching movies together, do grocery shopping, eating out together, or traveling. My husband and I do a weekly BOT (bottle or two) session -- talk about our experiences, feelings and dreams.

I like to have a "me" time when I am feeling stressed at home, work, school, etc. I would go to the spa and have my 2-hour massage, or the salon for a hair spa and mani-pedi combo, or watch my rom-coms or crime documentaries on Netflix. Shopping also is one form of de-stressing for me.

I am a people person. My friends and I gather at least once or twice a month. We drink (moderately), eat and talk about stuff. I also love hanging out with my family in Batangas and Quezon City, as well as friends from our marriage community. I also enjoy chit chatting and having meals with my colleagues at work during breaks to de-stress.

I always have this feeling that whenever you stare with how calm these beautiful creations are, you tend to attract it and be calm as well.

I find peace and serenity just by watching how the sun sets in front of the calm waves as if telling me, "Hi, Jeck! Seeing them very happy and enjoying relieve all kinds of stress that I have.

Another thing is to have a ME time to pamper myself. We have a regular home service massage every month.
