When seeking knowledge, the first thing we need to focus on is adab, or proper etiquette. We must exhibit good manners towards our teachers, who impart their knowledge and guidance to us. Additionally, we should show respect for ilmu (knowledge) itself. For instance, placing books on the floor, at the same level as our feet, is considered disrespectful. Such actions diminish the reverence we should have for our learning materials. Upholding proper etiquette towards both our teachers and our educational resources reflects our appreciation for the pursuit of knowledge.

AL-QURAN IS THE BOOK OF GUIDANCE

The Quran describes itself as a book of guidance for humankind (2:185). It sometimes offers detailed accounts of specific historical events.

For Muslims, the Quran is the Word of God and provides complete guidance for humanity. It extensively covers God, His attributes, and the relationship between man and the Divine. We should seek His guidance and strive to receive His mercy and blessings for all.All of our needs and guidance are already written in the Quran. We should follow its teachings and practice them in our daily lives."

Hi everyone,

Today, I would like to share our topic for this week: Islam, Iman, and Ihsan. These three concepts provide us with clear objectives for living a meaningful and purposeful life.

1. Islam is the outward practice of faith, such as praying, fasting, giving charity, and performing the pilgrimage. It means submitting to Allah through actions.

2. Iman is the belief in the heart. It involves having faith in Allah, His angels, books, prophets, the Day of Judgment, and divine destiny. Iman can grow stronger with good deeds and weaken with neglect.

3. Ihsan is the highest level, where a person worships Allah as if they see Him, knowing He sees them. It’s about doing everything with sincerity and striving for excellence in worship and d

aily life.

The topic for today’s discussion about 3 pillars of iman

We have 6 pillars of Iman, which are:

1. Belief in Allah

2. Belief in Mala’ika (angels)

3. Belief in Kutub (the holy books)

4. Belief in the Prophets

5. Belief in the Day of Judgment (Hari Kiamat)

6. Belief in Qada' and Qadar (Divine Decree)

Let me explain more about the first pillar,

Belief in Allah.

This belief is associated with the three aspects of Tauhid (monotheism):

• Tauhid Rububiyah: Belief that Allah is the Creator and Sustainer.

• Tauhid Uluhiyah: Belief in worshipping and obeying Allah alone.

• Tauhid Asma wa Sifat: Belief in the beautiful names and attributes of Allah.

A person's belief in Allah can be recognized through certain characteristics, such as:

Praising Allah (SWT) in worship.

Fearing Allah's punishment and judgment.

Having absolute love for Allah (SWT).

The second pillar is Belief in Mala’ika (angels).

Angels are God's creations, made from light. They are pure, free from vices, have no gender, do not marry or have offspring, and do not eat or sleep.

The third pillar is Belief in the Kutub (the holy books). There are four holy books that we are required to believe in:

• Taurat (revealed to Prophet Musa AS)

• Zabur (revealed to Prophet Daud AS)

• Injil (revealed to Prophet Isa AS)

• Al-Qur’an (revealed to Prophet Muhammad SAW)

As we know, the Qur'an is our ultimate guide in life. It is God's final revelation, containing the teachings of Islam. It is the last divine book and the only one preserved from any alteration until the Day of Judgment.

So today, our Usrah discussion is about the pillars of Iman. The first pillar we discussed is belief in the Prophets and Messengers (Rasul and Anbiya’).

This means believing that Allah sent prophets and messengers to guide us in worshiping Him.

• The obligatory qualities of the Prophets (sifat wajib) are: Siddiq (truthfulness)

• Amanah (trustworthiness)

• Tabligh (conveying the message)

• Fathonah (wisdom)

The impossible qualities (sifat mustahil) are:

• Kazib (lying)

• Khianat (betrayal)

• Kitman (concealing the truth)

• Baladah (foolishness)

  
  

We also learned about the Rasul Ulul Azmi, the prophets of strong determination:

• Prophet Nuh (AS)

• Prophet Ibrahim (AS)

• Prophet Musa (AS)

• Prophet Isa (AS)

• Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

Believing in the messengers leads us to be grateful to Allah and to follow their examples in our lives.

Next, we discussed belief in the Day of Judgment (Yaum al-Qiyamah).

This means believing in the day when the entire universe will be destroyed, and all beings will be resurrected to face accountability and receive either reward or punishment in Heaven or Hell.

Other names for the Day of Judgment include:

• Yaumul Qiyamah

• Yaumul Din

• Yaumul Hisab

  
  

Some minor signs of the Day of Judgment are the decrease in scholars, frequent wars, and widespread betrayal of trust.

The last pillar we covered is belief in Divine Decree (Qada’ and Qadar).

This means that Allah determines everything that happens to His creation with His knowledge and will. There are two types of Qada’:

• Qada Mubram (absolute decree)

• Qada Muallaq (conditional decree)

So, we must adhere to all the pillars of faith to ensure our lives are always blessed by Allah.

The word "insan" (human being) is repeated 211 times in the Quran.

According to the Quran, there are three characteristics of the muhsinin (those who practice excellence):

1. Doing good to others.

2. Offering the best level of kindness to others to the best of one's ability.

3. Performing good deeds sincerely for the sake of Allah (SWT).

Three examples of prophets mentioned in the Quran:

Prophet Nuh (A.S.)

Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.)

Prophet Yusuf (A.S.)

By practicing these virtues, we can approach life's challenges with hope, trust in Allah's divine plan, and live with a greater sense of purpose.

In Islam, showing good adab (manners and respect) towards parents is strongly emphasized. The Quran and Hadith stress the importance of being kind, obedient, and respectful to parents, as it is considered a form of worship and a way to earn Allah’s pleasure. Key aspects include:

1. Obedience and respect in words and actions.

2. Kindness and care, especially in their old age.

3. Gratitude for their sacrifices.

4. Prayers (dua) for their well-being.

5. Avoiding disobedience and ensuring their comfort and happiness.

These are fundamental ways of honoring

parents in Islam.

The story of prophet Ibrahim and his father.

Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) tried to guide his father, Azar, away from idol worship with kindness and respect. Despite Ibrahim's gentle approach, his father rejected his message and threatened to harm him if he continued. In response, Ibrahim remained calm, wished peace for his father, and promised to pray for his forgiveness. This story highlights Ibrahim’s patience, respect, and compassion towards his father, even in the face of disagreement, teaching the importance of maintaining good manners and praying for one's parents, regardless of their beliefs.

Intention: The Key to Success and Blessings

Intention (niyyah) is the purpose or determination in the heart before doing something. In Islam, intention is crucial because it determines the value of an action in the sight of Allah. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

"Indeed, actions are judged by intentions." (Hadith narrated by Bukhari & Muslim)

With a sincere intention, even ordinary actions can become acts of worship, such as studying to gain beneficial knowledge or working to provide for one’s family. Therefore, always purify your intentions so that every effort is blessed and rewarded in this life and the hereafter.

✨ A good intention leads to success, a sincere intention brings blessings. ✨

Wisdom of Worship:

• Strengthens our connection with Allah.

• Purifies the heart and soul.

• Instills discipline and patience.

• Shapes noble character.

• Brings blessings and peace.

How to Maintain Its Sweetness:

• Renew your intentions.

• Seek knowledge.

• Make dua for consistency.

• Surround yourself with good company.

• Reflect on the rewards.

Khusyuk (humility and focus) in prayer is essential for a deep connection with Allah. It brings peace, sincerity, and mindfulness in worship.

Tips to Achieve Khusyuk in Prayer:

1. Understand the Meaning – Learn the meaning of recitations to enhance focus.

2. Eliminate Distractions – Pray in a quiet and clean place.

3. Perform Wudu Properly – A mindful wudu prepares the heart for prayer.

4. Take Your Time – Avoid rushing; pray calmly and with full concentration.

5. Reflect on Allah’s Greatness – Remind yourself that you are standing before Allah.

✨ A prayer with khusyuk brings peace to the heart and strengthens faith. ✨

Khusyuk in prayer brings countless blessings, both spiritually and emotionally. Among its benefits are:

1. Strengthens Connection with Allah – A sincere prayer brings us closer to Allah and increases our faith.

2. Brings Inner Peace – A focused prayer calms the heart and reduces stress.

3. Improves Concentration in Daily Life – Training the mind to focus in prayer enhances overall concentration.

4. Purifies the Soul – Khusyuk helps remove negative thoughts and increases sincerity in worship.

5. Earns Greater Rewards – A prayer performed with full devotion is more valuable in the sight of Allah.

✨ A heart that finds khusyuk in prayer will find peace in life. ✨

The Beauty of Fasting

Fasting (sawm) is an act of worship that teaches self-discipline, patience, and gratitude. It purifies the soul, strengthens faith, and brings countless rewards from Allah.

Rukhsah (Concessions) in Fasting

Islam provides ease for those who face difficulties in fasting. Among those allowed to break their fast are:

1. The Sick – If fasting worsens health, it can be postponed and replaced later.

2. Travelers – Those on long journeys can break their fast and make up for it later.

3. Elderly & Chronically Ill – If fasting is too difficult, they may pay fidyah (compensation).

4. Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women – If fasting affects their health or the baby, they can postpone and compensate accordingly.

✨ Fasting is a spiritual journey, and Islam provides ease for those in need. ✨
