The PETAL’s sensors measure a combination of biomarkers: temperature, pH, trimethylamine, uric acid and moisture of the wound (Hastings, 2023). The patch collects fluid from the wound and administers it to the sensors.  Sensor images are then captured using a smartphone camera and classified by AI algorithms to determine healing status.

    o Strengths in connectedness involve the ability to build and maintain relationships with others. This includes networking, collaboration, and teamwork. I believe Cindy can be a great asset to the team as she will be good at finding common ground with others, understanding and respecting different perspectives, and working effectively in a team.

    Izzie-Input
    o Izzie will help the team by gathering, analyzing, and using information effectively. This includes research, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. A person with strong input skills is curious, inquisitive, and eager to learn. They are good at asking questions, finding and interpreting information, and applying what they've learned to solve problems or make decisions.

    Isaac-Ideation
    o Isaac will assist the team in generating, developing, and communicating new ideas. This includes creativity, innovation, and strategic thinking. A person with strong ideation skills is imaginative, open-minded, and forward-thinking. They are good at thinking outside the box, coming up with fresh and original ideas, and seeing connections that others might miss.

Impaired wound healing, such as chronic wounds can lead to life-threatening complications as well as increased financial burden to patients and the healthcare system. As a wound care nurse, I can appreciate this technology as I have seen difficulty in complex wound healing. Although further testing needs to be done, I believe this patch has potential to revolutionize wound management.
